Alabama defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi has left the Crimson Tide to join the Cleveland Browns coaching staff under new head coach Freddie Kitchens.

Lupoi first joined Alabama's staff in 2014 as a defensive analyst and was promoted to outside linebacker coach in 2016 and then received co-defensive coordinator duties in 2017. Per ESPN:

Lupoi's departure adds another hole for Alabama head coach Nick Saban to fill on his coaching staff.

Since the Crimson Tide lost the College Football Playoff National Championship to Clemson on Jan. 7, offensive coordinator Mike Locksley (Maryland), co-offensive coordinator Josh Gattis (Michigan), quarterbacks coach Dan Enos (Miami) and offensive line coach Brent Key (Georgia Tech) have all left.

The Browns hired Freddie Kitchens, a former Alabama quarterback, as their head coach this week.

I just can’t believe Freddie Kitchens is an NFL HC. If you’d of told me ole Fat Freddie, aka “Big Thick” was going to be an NFL HC back in 1996 I would have laughed hard.

The reality is that even a weakened B4m4 will look impressive against a bad schedule. They will get to the playoffs again and lay another egg on the big stage. Humiliating for the rest of the SEC.
