I agree with you. No matter how we got here, we are here. We have to defend ourselves.

There simply is no course of action that is going to lead to anything other than massive amounts of bloodshed

I'm a little concerned, at this point, that we're going to see another Holocaust of some sort if this keeps getting pushed.

Attacks on soft targets like this will only get more frequent. I'd avoid gun free zones for the next......ever.

I get what you are saying completely and for virtually all mass killings you are spot on. I'm just not sure it would make much difference in a dark nightclub environment.

What happens when a few people start blazing away in self defense? A bar patron killed by an errant bullet from the gun carriers?

Pretty sure if you kill someone other than the one shooting at you, it's second degree murder,

Pretty sure it won't matter to the victims family either.

Not sure what the answer is to this dilemma, but I'd put money down that the govt isn't going to want the citizens armed. Gov'ts don't do that. An armed citizenry is in direct opposition of any gov'ts best self interest .Can't put the military on the streets, that's just all kinds of wrong.

I'd favor a moratorium on all immigrations for a decade, review in a sober manner, not reactionary, of all current immigrants and demand one thing from them. Allegiance to this country and repudiation of where they come from. Make the criteria public and obvious, printed in every language on earth, with a personal interview where the applicant has to acknowledge the terms of their immigration status. Use words like absolutely, total, unwavering. Create a judicial and enforcement branch with absolutely clear criteria and heavily screened to weed out any extreme prejudice.

It'd be a start.

You want to trust someone that has been drinking for 3 hours to hit what he's aiming for?

The United States is only a few steps away from internment camps for "radicals".

We've done it before in times of war, unfortunately.

This will continue to get uglier before it gets better. Maybe even much uglier.

Also I'll just add that guns aren't going anywhere and neither are radicals. For that matter immigrants aren't going to stop coming here either, which is right and good. People might as well settle up with these issues, because all are here to stay.

I'll be working on my CWL in the next couple of months. I've already taken my GF to the range. It's not about living in fear, it's about accepting reality and taking personal responsibility for your own safety.

Unfortunately that's just where we are at right now as a country.

As far as those poor people at Pulse, all you can do is feel for them and their families. It hurts me just thinking about it.

You get it. A lot of people still don't. Our reality is that every one of us is a potential target for terrorists and/or mentally ill people.

Our government is trying to predict and monitor potential terrorists but this latest massacre illustrates the relative inefficacy of their efforts. Mateen got through some wide cracks in the anti-terrorism program.

Also, America is still in denial about the danger of allowing mentally ill people the freedom to mix in with society. There's almost a sense of boredom with the idea of institutionalizing the mentally ill as we did for much of the 20th century. Maybe a few more massacres will change that.

The Left has been doing their best to destroy this country for the past century or so. They've pretty much succeeded. Jihadis running wild on American soil are just a symptom of the real problem.

Our cities are rotting. Our government is bankrupt. The near-future is bleak.

Damn son. You just went yard on three straight pitches and the one about the mentally ill landed in the street behind the bleachers.

I'd rather trust myself and ultimately, yes. I'm sure the 103 dead and injured would have preferred having someone or some people armed in that club. Police are reactionary. Most responsible gun owners wouldn't likely get so smashed if they were carrying. And those that would, probably do anyhow. The narrative of they'd shoot innocents is a pretty rare happening and as stated earlier.. it was used when some colleges and school systems allowed carry. Not a single incident yet of innocent people shot. If a club doesn't want them, then fine.. it's private and they can state so. But the Gov't shouldn't be saying where you can't when it comes to private businesses.

eta - furthermore.. do you really think the perps are allowing themselves to be surrounded by all their victims? There wouldn't be crossfire hitting others. They'd be grouped together for easier killing and/or hostage taking where they could have an eye on the kept better.

And today we learn that his current wife was in on the plan.

Even went with him to buy some of his 'supplies' and drove him to the place on some of his scouting missions.

But yeah, he's a lone wolf.

If she was as involved as it now appears, that will be the second US-based ISIS husband wife team to launch an attack here in the last 6 months.

Edited to add - Fox has the story as their lead. NBC has the story as their lead. CNN's big headline is OBAMA GOES OFF TRUMP. Maybe if he spent more time going off on ISIS Trump wouldn't be looking more right by the minute.

No! No! No!

He's just a victim, a closet gay guy that couldn't come to terms with his desires

ALL of the evidence on his computer and his 911 calls giving Isis credit and allegiance was JUST AN ELABORATE SMOKESCREEN

Meanwhile, in Amarillo, TX apparently a Somali man wearing khakis took some people hostage in a Wal-Mart.

Thankfully, the Amarillo PD has delivered him into the hands of Allah and the hostages are safe.

He was probably a misunderstood victim too.

The only way this stops is if one of those loons detonates on old Soviet era nuke or chemical weapon in a major city. Once that happens and it will eventually then we can wake up and finally get rid of Islam or at least banish it to only being in a few countries in the Middle East.
