They are allowed to use wood, right?

Just the way it is here. Like how most schools outside of the sec don't care much about baseball.

It's the only sport I know of, where cheating is encouraged to try to win at the end of the game.
Why should teams be able to foul to try to catch up? That makes absolutely no sense to me. It'd be like a football team being down by 2 with 3 minutes to go, and being allowed to commit a penalty that gives the team ahead a field goal try from 30 yards. If they get it or miss it, it doesn't matter. The team down by 2 or at that point 5, gets the ball back with 3 minutes to play for a chance to win the game.

Actually while the Vanderbilt fans on this board are few and far between, the 'average' Vandy fan loves college basketball.
I love talking basketball, but lately LSU hasn't done very much.

I love basketball. Wish we'd put together a really good team again.
The people that bash it all the time are short and fat. We have a lot of short and fat people in the SEC.

Let me know if you want some posts about Newton's teams in the mid 1970's.

I'd love to hear some stories about Bernard King. I'm not kidding, either. I actually want to find some old videos of him playing.

I agree here as well. I'm a football ticket holder, not basketball - I don't have tickets to inherit.
It's fairly ridiculous for the price paid for K Fund plus tickets to not have any quality home games till SEC season, ridiculous.
It's kind of like these awful non-conference football games. You could bring in an IU/Purdue or Southern Miss and it would be a lot more fun than Samford/Kent State.

Guy was simply awesome. His freshman year (1974-1975)he was named First team All-SEC and the SEC was STACKED that year. Scored over 20 in both games vs UK (and they lost to UCLA in title game) and had over 30 in Tuscaloosa vs Alabama, the SEC co-champ.
But he was a head case. Took a swing at Butch Feher and got kicked out of the Vandy game in Nashville in '76 and while being escored off the court he ,ahem, displayed 'an complimentary hand gesture'. A lot of people at the time maintained that Mears' nervous breakdown was attributable to him after the 1977 season. Got in a lot of trouble at UT that was 'settled out'.
Because of some odd rules at the time, Tennessee's path to the Final Four in his soph year (76) was incredibly easy, but they lost in the first round to VMI of all teams. Mears' final team ,his jr and Grunfeld's SR (76-77) was as talented as any team in America, including national champ Marquette, but again, they lost in the first round.

Thanks.
People say Mears had some Tennessee teams that were probably good enough to win the tournament, but they couldn't get in because of the one team per conference rule.

I like basketball, after the football season is over. It is enjoyable sport. It is not a justification for why your football team sucks.

You have not been following the K Fund under Mitch. Tickets are not passed down anymore and as individual tickets come open they are going to corporations not individuals. I go to a game to see a game and not to solicit business behind glass partitions while not paying attention to the game. I loath the corporate takeover of college sports.

The only programs that are apathetic towards basketball are the programs that have zero history in the sport, or the ones that haven't been able to sustain success. Florida is working against the fact that we had no history in the sport before Donovan. We're one of the most successful programs in the country now, but it takes a little while to change a cultrue.

And I can't believe people are complaining about college basketball's format when college football's format is the most screwed up format in all of sports.

LSU's 2013 recruiting class is ranked #2 in the nation
Never thought I'd see another day when LSU would have a legit basketball team.

247's "Composite Team Rankings" aren't their legit rankings... It's some screwed up computer formula that benefits teams for having more commits instead of higher-quality commits.
Here's their legit rankings:
LINK
Florida's #5, LSU's #6
Also, Florida isn't done yet. Apparently we're in pretty good shape with Julius Randle.

UF averaged 10,434 last year, around 90% capacity. Most of the early season games like Bama State will get around 8K, but the bigger games are at or near capacity. The only year UF has averaged 100% capacity was 2007, BTW.

Top 1-10 recruiting classes aren't so far and in between.

I really enjoy going to Bama games in Tuscaloosa. That being said, I hate trying to keep up with a bad team.
