. In fact, I'd argue college baseball is a more pure form of the game. Students at the southern schools can hang out in the sun, drink beer and catch a game. Not exactly going to do that when it's 40 out.
Aluminum bats make this argument invalid. As for basketball other than March Madness I generally find it boring. Too many games to make regular season interesting for me, but I grew up playing football and baseball. Also the NBA has affected my overall view of basketball, as well as all of the one and done garbage. I think that has affected the level of talent in college.

That I am convinced of. Don't think it will be as long as you may think either. Basketball is one sport you can turn around with a good class.

I hear ya about the bats but have you seen Chris Carpenter try to bunt for the Cards? Pathetic. I'm not up on the college limitations, but I can tell you the restrictions they're putting on the bats at younger ages here is bringing those bats closer and closer to wooden bats.

First of all, the end of CFB season > the beginning of CBB season. When the BCS standings are becoming musical chairs and teams are fighting for bids in bowl games, you can't expect people to care about nearly-irrelevant early season basketball games.
Second, from a fundamental standpoint college basketball is leaps and bounds better than NBA basketball. The only reason I'm not fully into it is because of the one-and-dones. No headlining player stays for more than a year or two (with the exception of Duke) which makes the sport hard to follow year in and year out.
I love basketball, but it's on the back burner until football season is over. If you don't like that, you should have went to the ACC or Big East.

I bet if JFF decided to become JFB you would follow, even if he was a one and done.

In baseball, probably. Kentucky is about as terrible as we are in terms of baseball support.
Not really. Maybe before John Cohen got there in 2004 and they became competitive. Had he stayed, his "new" contract would have included a brand new $30 mil stadium. Now that Patterson is starting to experience similar success, he will likely negotiate the same thing...at least a major renovation. They are improving things annually @ UK now.
Tennessee and Georgia will get with the program. UT is looking at major stadium renovations currently and UGA needs to as well soon. You will have to come off the $$ to keep up in baseball, which should not be a problem for you with the influx of cash coming your way...

The bats they've made people use for the last two years are in NO WAY superior to wood bats other than longevity. They were absolutely terrible. The DeMarini's are alot better, but with the Eastons that State used, alot of our guys would have actually preferred to use wood last season...

No.
I'm apathetic towards baseball but basketball is my favorite college sport. I guess I'm not your average SEC fan.

Honestly, I try to support the team, but it is more out of love for my university than actually liking basketball. The truth is that basketball just does absolutely nothing for me as a spectator. I've never wanted to play it, and I feel no emotional connection to the sport whatsoever.
There are a lot of sports at Florida I feel that way about. I am always quite proud of how well Florida competes across the board in all sports, and I care about them for the opportunities they give student athletes, particularly the non-revenue generating sports that really have no long term payout beside the opportunity for a great education. But as far as feeling a real interest in a sport as a fan of it, I just don't have it for basketball and some other things like I do football.

Good thread, sorry I missed it earlier. I am passionate about all things Mizzou related. But will admit basketball is my favorite college sport for viewing.
I multi-task and have enough energy to withstand the overlap of sport seasons.

This is such an attention seeking post. It's pretty obvious that football is the driving force in the SEC, most schools are good at it. They don't have that same recent success in basketball though, therefore the lack of care for it.
Not hard to figure out. Stop trying so fricking hard to fit in.

Silly sport with sillier tournament. Seriously, I watch occassionally but why get excited when wins and losses barely matter. You can be national champs with 11 losses and people think that's better than football's MNC, really? March Madness should be renamed, to me it is the definition of absurdity. Just can't get into it.
