There are some very passionate Alabama basketball fans on here. Myself included. Bryant actually loves basketball more than football

There definitely are, and I wasn't trying to insult those who do care, I have just noticed quite a few of the traditional football powers seem to have little widespread support for hoops.

I like BB. Particularly Bama BB. I won't get into serious discussion of it until football is over though. I will watch it and will go to some games but football will hold my attention for a while yet.

I actually do love basketball. It's just that it's still football season. I'll be watching tomorrow night's games. UK better represent.

I thought this for a second, but given the tremendous success Florida has had in basketball, they really don't get great fan support.

Basketball is an old man's sport.

I was raised on football and baseball and that's the way it is for many A&M students and former students. Basketball isn't hugely popular all over Texas, it's really only big in inner city Houston and Dallas (notracist) and even then it's second to football. We've had some good crowds and good support for our generally shitastic history since Billy Clyde first came but it will always be at best second fiddle.

The short easy answer is that SEC territory= the biggest football territory in the US. Just like the ACC is a basketball conference and ACC territory=the biggest basketball territory in the US

I do as well...

Of course, I was in school @ MSU from 03-06, and during that time period, we were mostly a basketball school. The Hump was crazy intense at games during those days.

Of course, the "life" of our program is at an all-time low right now after the last few years killed fan support(for multiple reasons) and left us with little to be excited about on the court. But much like our baseball support had gotten, it just needs a little spark of optimism to bring the people back. See Dudy Noble this season for reference...

Because it's the only thing Mizzu is good at and it really pisses them off.

Its hard to get excited for a sport in a conference full of men (UF, Kentucky, and Mizzou excluded) where the least amount of contact stops the game.

Soccer is a more physical game than BB

At the rate we're going, basketball is going to be more of a contact sport than football in about 10 years.

Klarvin, I bet your boyfriend wishes you gave him as much attention as you do threads about Mizzou. You're going to pass up my post count in one night.

Because this site, other message boards, and talk radio is dominated by the football fan only crowd. Just like the Finebaum show doesn't represent most Bama fans, internet message boards don't measure basketball interest. You will find actual attendance and fan interest among SEC basketball fanbases to be very similar to what it was in Big 12.

I don't particularly like the CBB product as a whole, even when the best teams are playing, and its rare that even 2 SEC teams can be called some of the "best" in a given season.

Also March Madness waters everything down, and the regular season is a waste of time for the most part. Coming off of the tension of a CFB season, it just doesn't do it for me.

I'll watch a conference basketball game on the weekend if there isn't baseball to go to.

Baseball is just a perfect fit for me. I love fresh air, getting away from the rat race, and the peace and quiet when there's no action. I love the fact that there is a mental battle between pitcher and hitter that you can really get into or just ignore. It's your choice, and you can enjoy the game either way.
