re: Who is Kendall Rogers and why do you give a frick?
Posted by Calen50 on 3/1/25 at 11:24 pm
So, you've been a college baseball fan for almost 40 years and don't know what D1baseball is and don't know who Kendall Rogers is? That makes sense.
Aside from the stream frick up with LSU in the tournaments, he is probably the #1 person trying to bring college baseball into the mainstream. D1 Baseball is my go to site for college baseball scores nationwide. You probably already know that being a college baseball fan and not just an LSU baseball fan. I bet you don't even know who Ron Polk is.

If we can get him, and he can bring us to the promised land, I'm all for it. It's not my money.

But why? There are other good mid major coaches who are fiery, can recruit, and can coach. What makes Will Wade the best option if he had never coached here?
I loved the WW era of LSU basketball. I would love to have him back. I'm just wondering why you think he is the best option if he had never coached here. Take away his success at LSU. Would you be happy hiring the current McNeese coach? How would he be different from MM's resume?

re: Would you take Aranda back and send Baker packing if you had the choice?
Posted by Calen50 on 12/31/24 at 10:53 pm
Yes. An emphatic yes!! For 1 reason only. Aranda has been a head coach. If he comes back down to be a DC, it's because that's what he wants to do, and we never have to worry about him leaving for another HC gig.
Baker is young and will learn. The better he gets, the more his name will be mentioned for head coaching vacancies. He may want to test those waters. Who could blame him?
Now, would I want Aranda as Head Coach in Waiting when Kelley retires? Absolutely not.
I would rather have stability on the coaching staff where recruits know who they will playing for and in what system 2-4 years down the road. I don't want what happened at the end of Ed O where Aranada had his people in place to run a 3-4 base and Ed said we are gonna run a 4-3.

I don't buy anything (food or otherwise) if the original packaging has been disturbed. Yes, I will sift through all the things on the shelf looking for the seal still in tact.
re: What would your schools best all time line up by position be and would anyone top LSU
Posted by Calen50 on 12/29/24 at 11:55 pm
No Y.A Tittle at QB? No Tommy Casanova at DB? No Heisman winner Billy Cannon at RB? List seems lacking.
Are we going off just college careers or including pro?
LSU can put up a stacked roster no doubt, but a lot of other schools can too.
Just off the top of my head with no research, Florida has multiple Heisman winners at QB, Emmitt Smith at RB, countless WR's who were 6'+ and had blazing speed. I'm sure some UF fan could name plenty of defensive guys.

re: Living in a luxury camper full time, truck advice
Posted by Calen50 on 12/28/24 at 3:15 am
So, to actually answer your OP question... get the biggest truck you can afford. If it's "too big" for your current camper, it won't be too big for the next camper. Payload capacity is a key. That's how much the truck can carry. That's the hitch weight of the camper + all other weight.
The thing is, you don't want to pigeonhole yourself into a smaller truck, with a smaller payload and towing capacity for a camper you like now, then, in 3-4 years, you decide you need a bigger camper, but now also need to upgrade the truck.
A full ton is the way to go. Diesel dually if you can afford it. Can't beat a diesel for torque and towing. Can't beat a dually for payload capacity (hitch weight).
As far as make, they are all pretty close with the big 3 when it comes to specs. Get the one that you like best. All 3 have their pluses and minuses. Ford has the best payload and towing capacity. Dodge is a favorite of many full time campers. I personally have a Chevy pulling a 43' 5th wheel and love it. Test drive all 3 and find the one you think would be best for driving the family on long drives and makes you comfortable driving them

I was honestly just hoping that Paul caught Mike with a non scripted shot and Mike would have decked him.
You saw a few times Mike wanted to kill him, but didn't.
At least it was a free fight. If I would have paid money for thus, I would be PISSED

You are right!! This is only an LSU phenomenon. Someone should investigate this. No other teams ever lose key players at key positions due to injury.

Are you me? We also just upgraded to a 6.6 turbo diesel 2500 Silverado HD. Pulls a 13k lb. camper like it's not even there. First diesel I have ever owned, and I will never go back to gas.
To OP, if you're hauling something, I strongly recommend a diesel. The torque can't be beat. They're supposed to last forever. Yes, diesel costs more than gas, but we had a Chevy 6.2 V8 and it took premium gas, which is higher than diesel. Also, if you're an OT baller, you can easily get a bigger fuel tank or an auxiliary tank added to increase your tow range. At 10ish mpg towing a boat (or just about anything) it comes in really handy having a bigger tank to not have to stop every 2-300 miles to fuel up. It's not easy to pull into a Circle K towing 30' of boat behind you.

re: Generators at tailgate
Posted by Calen50 on 9/6/24 at 9:49 pm
We went to every home game last year in the RV lots and had a gas generator. I emailed beforehand to make sure it was okay. I was told as long as it wasn't "too loud" and properly vented, it was fine. No one bothered us all year following those guidelines.
re: NIL Language
Posted by Calen50 on 1/5/24 at 12:54 pm
So, could someone structure a deal for say "the starting quarteback at X University"? If you're the back up, you get nothing. If the starter goes down and you go in, then you get the endorsement deal. Conversely, if you're the starter and get beat out, you lose your NIL money. Same could be written for any and all positions that way in theory.

No. This lot is by the Levee Lot. I would have loved to get a spot in TD Village 1, but couldn't find a spot we liked.

Thank you all for the responses. Should make our first rv tailgate a bit less painless.
I've been to the LSU website and I've read some conflicting things in various spots. Like can I leave my truck next to my camper the whole time, or do I have to move it to a different lot after the camper is parked. Think I've got my answers.

Questions about Lot 412 etiquitte
Posted by Calen50 on 7/19/23 at 9:52 pm
Just got a season pass for Lot 412 RV parking. Never had an RV pass before. Can someone please enlighten me on how this lot works? Is it first come first spot you want? Are spots assigned weekly? What do you do with the tow vehicle if you're coming in from out of town? Does everyone use gas generators with exhaust extensions?
I don't want to show up with the RV on the day of the Gramblimg game and have a bad experience. Can anyone of the gurus on this board please enlighten me on the etiquette of the RV lots?
Not sure if this is the right place to post this. If not, admins please move to appropriate board.

re: SEC baseball today is because of Skip

I'm a huge LSU fan and as big of a Skip fan as anyone, but to leave Ron Polk out of the discussion is just wrong. Hell, Ron was the butt of some great Skip jokes, but Ron was a helluva baseball coach.
I would say SEC baseball is where it is today because of Skip and Ron.
