It's just as much the fault of fans who overdo it with twitter, etc. building up the colossal egos of these guys, granted, most people wouldn't know about any of these recruits without the recruiting services.

And the coaches too. They're the ones calling or texting these kids 24/7 (also promising and paying?) .

I remember leaving that game at halftime.....

Stayed for the whole thing... not my favorite experience to say the least.

Most recent unwatchable game - 2012 at Florida. Fumbled the game away in the first 20 minutes.

re: Thompson or Shaw?

Don't think either is significantly better than the other at this point. Will be a fun spring, that's for sure.

Shaw's biggest problem has been inability/unwillingness to pull the trigger on throws that have been there. Also has shown some arm strength issues (underthrown deep balls all season). Maybe the shoulder injury has been a factor there, who knows. When he does let it fly, he can be a pretty damn good passer though. And his running is a major threat when healthy though admittedly his decision making has been shaky on some of his reads in the zone-read and option.

The biggest thing Thompson has going for him is arm and willingness to push the ball downfield. Still, has taken some awful sacks and his accuracy has been shaky at times - see the 3-4 balls that could've or should've been picked off against Clemson and the other 3 or 4 that he skipped to open wideouts.

Reportedly multiple teams communicated that they would take him in the 3rd round if he's available (and there aren't any setbacks in his rehab before then). - A large reason he declared.

Not confident. Think Clemson is just too explosive, as good as our defense is and as bad as theirs is, for Carolina to keep up. Doesn't help that Shaw won't be able to run with the foot injury. And the game is on the road, where Shaw hasn't played well to say the least.

Clemson's offensive line can't handle our D line, but it won't matter with the quick passing game. Similar to what happened in the LSU game - doesn't matter if Clowney and crew are unblocked, they aren't getting there if the QB is throwing the ball as soon as he hits his drop.

I enjoy Cockytalk... though plenty of uneducated idiots.

Same. In a day my primary interest went from SC and college football to all NFL.

Obviously still want SC to do well and will watch every minute of every game but not the same.
IMO SC is holding up pretty well in pass protection - as they did against LSU. Shaw just won't pull the trigger.

LSU had perfect game plan. Take away the pass rush and the defense isn't all that amazing. SC's linebackers are pretty average (SLOWWWWW) and were exposed all night in the run game. And the interior line wasn't incredible either.

Max protect with 3-step drop after 3-step drop throws worked well and didn't allow SC's pass rush to have any chance of getting there. Mett wasn't all that good but at least he knew how to get rid of the ball when he finished his drop. Hopefully the D can make some adjustments. I'm worried that Florida will just follow this game plan and do exactly what LSU did last night.
Gotta give a lot of blame to the offense. D was on the field all night. But SC's Linebackers are so slow. Definitely the biggest weakness on D tonight.

LSU did an awesome job completely neutralizing the pass rush with running and all of the quick throws.

Jevan Snead was going 1st round in a ton of mocks leading up to and during the early part of his last season- look how that turned out.
Good, but jury is still out.

Offense has been a pleasant surprise- though it hasn't played great. Still way ahead of what we saw for most of last season which is good to see.

Defense has been strong, but I'd still contend it really hasn't been tested. Thought Mizzou had some opportunities but Franklin refused to try and push the ball down the field.

We're only favored by 10. Our defense has been better than UGA's so far and our guys have been pumped at home. We'll be missing DJ but I doubt they move the ball 'pretty easily'.

I'd consider SC 3 pt favorites.

Yea, maybe I'm too skeptical of the defense at this point. But UAB and ECU both had some guys running wide open for a lot of the night but just couldnt hit them. They also both moved the ball pretty well between the 20s - especially ECU before they eventually turned it over.

And the other reason is that in the Spurrier era the D has had trouble with Mizzou style spread option teams.
I think Mizzou will be able to move the ball on Carolina's defense pretty easily. Shocked SC is favored by so much.

As an SC fan I'm not hugely confident. Both ECU and UAB moved the ball pretty easily at times, ECU especially though the team kept shooting itself in the foot with turnovers. And since Spurrier has been at Carolina the defense has struggled with zone-read based spread offenses similar to what Mizzou seems to run. And SC's offense looked good against ECU and UAB but it remains to be seen whether they can do the same thing against real competition.

Ark's QB is laughably bad.

re: Jerry's UT vs. NCSU game recap

Tennessee's pass blocking was impressive. I know NC State doesn't exactly have the best defensive line out there but Bray had all day to throw for most of the night.
From what I saw, and from what people who were at he game have been saying, Carolina's WRs were open all night. IMO WRs aren't the problem.

The problem was Shaw either didn't pull the trigger, was running for his life because the O Line blows, or threw the ball late and/or weak. Though I will say I don't understand why Jerell Adams didnt' see the field more, among other play calling issues.
