This is the most important part of this rule. It is up to the refs to decide this point. Did he maliciously attack the guy with intent to injure? No. Did he hit him hard. Yes. If this was targeting then there should have been about half a dozen targeting calls on Auburn against Austin Allen.
I know everyone is hating on Alabama right now but if you take away hard tackles like this, we'll soon have two-hand touch.
