Good no-call because the refs don't want to influence the game or anything.

That is because of the sequence of words you gave it and it predicted the right output. Machine learning algorithms don’t perform logic. Look it up. I’ve asked it significant amount of logic questions and it gets it wrong most of the time, especially 3.5 version. It only mimics logic. You should really look up how transformer neural networks work.

Why do you think it ranked Team A and Team F the way it did based on the input I provided? What input would have made it move Team F into the top 4? I did make sure to list them in a different order, and it ranked them based on what seems to be sound reasoning.

Do you find a flaw in the reasoning or just want to crap on the limitations of ChatGPT logic processing, which I'll admit isn't perfect - but that doesn't mean it is always wrong.

I asked it to perform a logical sequence:
if a=b and a=c and d=c then does d=a?

ChatGPT responded with:
Yes, based on the transitive property of equality...

then it spit out all the logical steps on how it arrives at that.

Seems like it performs logic adequately.

Lost me there. Post is trash

I fixed the prompt and re-generated a new ranking. Also had to correct some mathematical error in Georgia's SOS.
quote:

Interesting. Im surprised UGA’s SOS is 90th.

I may have made a mistake there. I think they are actually 45. Something got messed up in my math.
quote:

I thought computer rankings were a bad thing, which is why we started the playoff system. But maybe I'm confused.

They can be instructive in the case of AI as a thought experiment. How would an unbiased computer not only rank but give its reasoning for why it ranked them in such a way?

Where did the SOS rankings come from in this thought experiment lol

I used the rankings from here
Summary:
Washington=#1
Texas=#2
Michigan=#3
Alabama=#4
Georgia=#5
Florida State=#6

A football team we will call "Team M" has a record of 12 wins and 0 losses in the regular season. Their strength of schedule is ranked 51st. They are a conference champion now with a record of 13-0. Their best win is against an opponent with a record of 11-1.
A football team we will call "Team W" has a record of 12 wins and 0 losses in the regular season. Their strength of schedule is ranked 8th. They are a conference champion now with a record of 13-0. Their best win is against an opponent with a record of 11-2.
A football team we will call "Team F" has a record of 12 wins and 0 losses in the regular season. Their strength of schedule is ranked 55th. They are a conference champion now with a record of 13-0. Their best win is against an opponent with a record of 9-3.
A football team we will call "Team T" has a record of 11 wins and 1 loss in the regular season. Their strength of schedule is ranked 2nd. They are a conference champion now with a record of 12-1. Their best win is against an opponent with a record of 12-1 who is also a conference champion. Their loss is against an opponent with a record of 10-2.
A football team we will call "Team A" has a record of 11 wins and 1 loss in the regular season. Their strength of schedule is ranked 6th. They are a conference champion now with a record of 12-1. Their best win is against an opponent with a record of 12-1 who had a 12-0 record in the regular season. Their loss was against "Team T" in the regular season.
A football team we will call "Team G" has a record of 12 wins and 0 losses in the regular season. Their strength of schedule is ranked 45th. They now have a record of 12-1 after losing their conference championship game to "Team A." Their best win is against an opponent with a record of 10-2.
How would you rank each of these teams from 1-6 knowing only the top 4 will be invited into the playoff for a national championship?

Ranking these teams requires considering various factors, including their records, strength of schedule, conference championships, and notable wins and losses. While personal opinions may differ, here's a potential ranking based on the information provided:

1. Team W (13-0)

Undefeated record
Conference champion
Strength of schedule ranked 8th
Best win against an opponent with a record of 11-2

2. Team T (12-1)

Conference champion
Strength of schedule ranked 2nd
Best win against an opponent with a record of 12-1 (conference champion)
Only loss is against an opponent with a record of 10-2

3. Team M (13-0)

Undefeated record
Conference champion
Strength of schedule ranked 51st
Best win against an opponent with a record of 11-1

4. Team A (12-1)

Conference champion
Strength of schedule ranked 6th
Best win against an opponent with a record of 12-1 (had a 12-0 regular season)
Only loss is against Team T

5. Team G (12-1)

Conference runner-up
Strength of schedule ranked 45th
Best win against an opponent with a record of 10-2
Loss in the conference championship game

6. Team F (13-0)

Undefeated record
Conference champion
Strength of schedule ranked 55th
Best win against an opponent with a record of 9-3

These rankings are based on the information provided, and different criteria or weightings may lead to slightly different rankings. The selection committee for a national championship playoff may consider additional factors, such as head-to-head matchups, common opponents, and other contextual elements.

Original Post Below. I messed up something in my math, but leaving it below so you don't call shenanigans:

ChatGPT 3.5 was last updated in January 2022 so no information in the system would influence the way this turns out. I used the following prompt and question and it ranked the teams a bit differently than the CFP Committee ranked them, however, Florida State & Georgia were still ranked 5 & 6 respectively. I also referred to them only by the first letter of the team name to avoid any bias. I also specified that "Team A" lost to "Team T" in the regular season. I did not mention the injury of FSU's QB:

ChatGPT:

Ranking football teams can be subjective, and different ranking systems may produce different results. However, based on the information provided and considering common factors that are often taken into account for playoff selection, here's one possible ranking for the teams:
1. Team W (13-0) Undefeated with a strong strength of schedule (8th). Best win against an 11-2 opponent.
2. Team M (13-0) Undefeated with a slightly weaker strength of schedule (51st). Best win against an 11-1 opponent.
3. Team T (12-1) Only one loss to a strong opponent (11-1). Best win against a 12-1 opponent (also a conference champion). Second-best strength of schedule (2nd).
4. Team A (12-1) One loss to a strong opponent (11-1 Team T). Best win against a 12-1 opponent. Strong strength of schedule (6th).
5. Team F (13-0) Undefeated but with a weaker strength of schedule (55th). Best win against a 9-3 opponent.
6. Team G (12-1) Lost in the conference championship game. Weakest strength of schedule (90th). Best win against a 10-2 opponent.

Keep in mind that this is just one possible ranking, and opinions may vary based on the specific criteria and weighting given to different factors by the playoff committee or ranking systems.

So in summary, ChatGPT 3.5 is a REC member. :pimp:

S-E-C! S-E-C! S-E-C!

Posted by LLJKSiLk on 12/4/23 at 11:33 pm
The chant that has defined a generation. Since 2007 after Florida took down THE Ohio State University and started a run of dominance we haven't seen in the modern era by a single conference.

I know we'll all be coming together to support this Cinderella Story of an SEC team in Tuscaloosa, Alabama - where there has been a long drought of National Titles.

Our scrappy little team will be proud to represent our conference and seeing even this mighty SEC underdog of a team being able to possibly hoist the CFP National Championship trophy in January will give hope to all the other little guys in the conference, that they too will be able to one day raise high the National Championship on behalf of the SEC.

If Alabama can do it, any of our teams can! It has been so long since we've had a national title I almost forgot what it felt like to see my favorite team win one.

So don't forget to chant "S-E-C!" and "Roll Tide!" come January. Because we're all in this together!

And hey... it just means more.

This is really rich coming from a Bama fan. The only reason you people think y’all deserve a playoff spot is “because we’re Bama”.

I wonder how Alabama would have fared against Florida State's schedule? I wonder how Florida State would have fared against Alabama's schedule? Perhaps the P5 conference schedules are equal. I mean, #5, #55. Basically 5s in both.

We make decisions of point spreads now? Brilliant.

No, but the reasons behind the point spreads are relevant. Are you saying that you'd bet money on Florida State against Georgia given this spread? Because if you believe they are better than the #6 team it is easy money.

Which is it? Is Florida State one of the 4 best teams or are they 14-point underdogs to the SEC Runner-Up?

Both things can't be true.

quote:

What is everyone going to say when Bama brings the championship once again for the SEC?

We will get an * thread showing how every single championship won by Alabama under Saban is somehow illegitimate because of some arbitrary criteria by the person in tears frantically typing up the list for everyone here to dunk on.
quote:

Bama would be in.

Those are the rules. Bama or Ohio State has to make the playoff. #1 criteria for the committee

Yes.

Seriously though, if you watched the turd of an ACC Championship last night, would you feel comfortable leaving out Georgia? Keep in mind last year, TCU still made the cut despite losing their conference and got absolutely obliterated by Georgia.
A 10-2 Conference Champion Alabama.
A 11-1 Conference Runner Up Georgia.

Selection Committee:

1. Michigan (B1G Champion)
2. Washington (Pac-1X Champion)
3. Texas (Big XII Champion)
4. ???

Who is "Most Deserving/Best Team"?

Georgia (Losers of SEC Championship)
Florida State (Undefeated ACC Champion)
Alabama (2-Loss SEC Champion)

If you think Georgia is better than Florida State & Alabama in that scenario, does it not follow that Alabama deserves #4 in the real world?

If you think Florida State is the rightful #4 in that scenario, and would beat both Alabama & Georgia on a neutral field just say so.
Y'all picked up a commitment from the QB from my son's high school who just won the State Championship. Y'all should be fine QB-wise.
I call it Fresh Tua Fresh since it was two freshmen involved.
Yes. Stockpile tons of future NFL talent on the Defensive side of the ball.

re: What's your honest opinion of Miles?

Posted by LLJKSiLk on 11/16/14 at 6:59 pm
I'm an Alabama fan, but Les Miles is a really good coach that averages 10+ wins a year and is loyal to his team, and his team is loyal to him. He's always well prepared when he faces Alabama (absent the BCS NCG rematch) and you will miss him when he's gone.

He's got excellent character, and he runs a great program. Unfortunately he hasn't been able to overcome NFL attrition on his roster.

The real problem is LSU fans who have no perspective on what your program was like before Saban/Miles.
