re: Been watching football all my life

It still should’ve been a turnover on downs though
But we never possessed it. Possession never changed hands so the Panthers still needed first down yardage which they did not get.
Why is it okay then to return blocked kicks for scores?

Is it only okay if the block is recovered behind the LOS?

This seems like a very bizarre, “why?” rule

Thought I knew pretty much all the rules. I guess shame on me for not knowing that one?
I can’t recall that ever being called, and I feel like I’ve seen enough blocked kicks to witness a recover or two…

Am I alone in this?

Yeah that was awful
Because he is a backup at best, and you need to get your rookie on the field in live action and try to figure out what he is before the draft in April.

I feel like most reasonable fans understand this. Not a difficult concept.
No, they’d correctly announce the play is not eligible to be challenged.
When they pick the flag up there is no penalty.

How is this any different than challenging a play with no holding call?
I guess you’re right. Kellen wanted 4 yards offense through 28:48 of the first half.

Silly me, thinking you should try to get yards and score points on every drive.
There have been deep routes all game. He hit a couple during DA prevent time. Not because Kellen finally “took the handcuffs off”

Completely missing the point. We’re not winning anything this year, it’s about building for the future. One of the most important things to do this year is to find out what you have in your 2nd round draft pick QB
Yes. There’s no pressure to win. Just go in and play loose. See if he can go through his reads quickly. See if he can throw with anticipation. Nothing to lose.
Imagine being more loyal to the color of a QB than to the team you “support”.

It’s past time to play Shough

Gotta find out what he has. We know Rattler doesn’t have it.

I guess I do! Haha.
And we need to find out what we have in Shough.

“Decent” play at QB isn’t good enough—and I’d argue scoring offensively 10 times over the last two games with just two TDs isn’t even “Decent”.

We won last week because we were +5 in turnovers and 3 of those turnovers were really “giveaways”, not “takeaways”.

We scored 6 times, 5 offensively and won by less than 2 TDs to a team that only scored twice. That’s not a reliable strategy for winning.

The red zone inefficiency alone

Should be enough reason to see what Shough has.

A QB “playing good enough” shouldn’t include 8 FG and 2 TDs in his best outings of the season. (And 1 of those TDs was from 87 yards away, while the other required a Taysom rush to get the TD.)

We know this league is all about finding the QB who can be “the straw that stirs the drink”. We know Rattler is not one of those QBs. We don’t know that Shough can’t be that guy.

We aren’t winning anything meaningful this year, this season should be about building for the future—most importantly trying to find out if your 2nd round draft pick rookie QB can be a viable “plus starter” in this league.

It’s nothing personal against Rattler, it’s in the best interest of the team moving forward.

Worst case he comes in and proves he doesn’t have “it” and you KNOW you need to keep looking for that guy.

Best case, he shows growth in his starts and that he might just have “it”.

You’re not winning at the highest level with Rattler without a 2000 Ravens type defense—and that’s not coming anytime soon.

This is materially inaccurate. The best Stertore could say was “I think it’s a fumble.”

That’s not indisputable

When did this standard change?
