Texas will leave the Big XII and begin SEC play in 2022. The announcements and vote last month were timed to occur at the end of the Texas legislative session to avoid potential blocking legislation by angry alums of the Irate 8. The press leak accelerated things a bit, but the Runaway Dems in DC prevented quorum anyway.

Any agenda for a special session must be approved by Gov. Abbott, a Texas alum, and that's not happening. That means the leg can't do anything until the next regular session in 2023. And THAT is why Texas will exit the Big XII before then.

Modest expectations for Texas in football starting out. The SEC is a big boy conference, and we're just happy to be a part of it. Football recruiting should improve out from under the cloud of doubt hanging over the Big XII.

Fortunately, Texas is hitting on all cylinders in the other men's and women's sports. Texas just won the Learfield Cup as the nation's top athletics program, ending Stanford's 25 year reign (albeit for just a year, probably). So, we can make some positive contribution to the SEC in athletics, just probably not in football yet.

Again, just pleased to be part of the best confererence in America and blessed to be voted-in.
