re: NCAA Tournament - Elite 8 - #2 Michigan State vs #1 Auburn - 5:05 ET/CBS

Houston caught a break getting a short turnaround from a Fri night game. They're more fresh. Also got to play nail biters last 2 games which upped their competitive streak

Alabama and Auburn being 1 and 2. Has that even occurred in football. Crazy accomplishment for the magnolia state

I miss the era when the south always had someone play for the title.
Two straight years of yankee teams

As much pros Alabama and Georgia add in last 20 years, it’s LSU that clears both in volume. In the 90s Kevin Faulk was only Tiger I remember was a productive pro

Good to see at least Lexington has folks who can spot satire online with ease, on-the-nose or otherwise

irregardless to nothing, but it's "So to what fanbase do you really belong"
abiding by the rule of not allowing a sentence ending to include a proposition, of which the word "to" belongs to.

Pretty impressive feat tbh in that era

re: Texas isn’t a blue blood.

I like the blue blood debate. Since the 90s I had teams in mind and I think they still rank - Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Southern Cal, Texas, OU. To make ten add Georgia and LSU. The latter pushing out Miami and Nebraska. Florida State and Florida should be there but not sure what’s going on anymore down south.

Va Tech is the closest SEC type program to add - fan base dedication, culture of the heads that live up there, southern history, one of the most marquee college players to ever done a uni.
re: What if the SEC was divided into 4 equal divisions?
Posted by AustinLiberal on 8/27/24 at 7:26 pm
the four pod / 9 conference game model is effective in seeing them all play each other. Two games vs teams in the other pods, alternating home and away for two years, and then switch to the other two teams for another two.
At least every four years you will see every other team in your stadium.

Good year all around in and out of SEC. The Peyton Manning led UT and Calipari's Kentucky both ringing. Ricky winning the Heisman. Razorbacks' Pippen leading Chicago to their 8th straight title.

Wasn’t Trev Alberts an all American at Nebraska or am I misremembering. What’s hes doing running the Aggies campaign
re: Who do you want if the SEC expands again?

Any combo of VA and NC - UVA or Tech and Carolina or State

Hey until you’ve played Baylor and Kansas up close you just don’t get it
re: EA Sports to allow FBS athletes to opt into 2024 video game

Nah it’s coming bro. Players are irrelevant since a ton of us play out the dynasty modes and CPU names quickly take over the roster anyway. It’s the teams that just need to all play ball. Get all 130 plus and their stadiums and this thing will sell off the shelf
re: The ACC Grant of Rights
Posted by AustinLiberal on 5/16/23 at 9:17 pm
I’ve lived in Raleigh and Blacksburg and their fans are full SEC level devotees in football. Perfect fit if the two elitists balk. I swear some of y’all in the Deep South think anything north of the Georgia state line is a yankee ??

Should be imperative to get into NC and VA by any combination of their four choices. Heck add KY and MO and you’ll have all 13 states under the banner

UGA has only won 5 NCAA tournament games in their entire history.
This is legitimately baffling. Great university, awesome college town, humongous fan base, brand well known due to gridiron, iconic alum in Nique...
You would think recruits would be highly attracted to play there. And yet 5 appearances must be at the bottom of the conference alongside Vandy.

And you certainly don’t lose to Princeton. Only team in the tourney that doesn’t hand out athletic scholarships.
I couldn’t imagine a team like UCLA doing that, just random example
