Boston schools made it impossible to fail then took victory lap when no one failed
The city of Boston has been crowing over vastly improved graduation rates in it’s schools, but officials have neglected to mention the district’s recent changes banning teachers from giving failing grades.
Boston Public Schools (BPS) boasted an 81.3% graduation rate in 2025, a more than 20-point increase from the 59.1% in 2006 and an all-time high for the district. Democratic Boston Mayor Michelle Wu at a March press conference insisted the improvements were due to pushing students more, but new reporting paints a different picture.
“When students feel challenged, they stay engaged,” Wu said, according to the Boston Globe. “We didn’t get here by lowering any expectations for students who might be experiencing challenges or moving the goal posts and making it easier for people to get by.”
Despite the improvement to graduation rates, test scores in the district have remained stable, or in some cases, even declined. But several policy changes at BPS since 2020 have made it easier for students to pass by softening requirements and providing multiple opportunities to make up for poor grades, the City Journal discovered.
For instance, the district banned teachers from giving failing grades to students, instead requiring them to hand out “incomplete” marks, allowing students to recover the grades later in often softer settings, such as through online courses.
Massachusetts in 2024 even removed the requirement for high school students to pass state tests in order to receive a diploma, saying it was a “barrier to graduation.”

A new Covid variant is spreading across the U.S. and it may be able to evade protection from current vaccines.
The variant, known as BA.3.2, has been detected in nasal swabs taken from four American travelers and clinical samples from five patients in four unidentified states. It Gets Much Worse: Code Pink's Cuban Commie Vacation Hits a New Low
On Sunday, I wrote about how Code Pink and a bunch of other worthless commies went to Cuba after they put together the "Nuestra América Convoy," which describes itself as a humanitarian group but is really just some sort of anti-Trump, pro-Cuban regime operation. Cuba's "president," Miguel Díaz-Canel, rolled out the red carpet at a convention center, and then the group stayed in a five-star well-lit hotel. I say "well-lit' because no one else on the island has power, yet oddly this hotel and convention center do.
The convoy also threw themselves a little concert — again, with plenty of electricity to go around — but this wasn't some sort of opportunity for them to raise money for the Cuban people they claimed they were heading down to support or anything. It was an opportunity to shout things like "F*ck Trump" and "Free Palestine." I have no data on this, but I'm guessing most Cubans don't give two cents about Palestine at the moment. They just want electricity so they can eat, study, have water, and keep their sick relatives alive in hospitals.
Call it poverty porn. Call it a communist safari or theme park. Call it the poor people petting zoo. I've heard every name under the sun from the Cuban exile community here in the United States. The only thing I can think to call it is one of the most grotesque, exploitative spectacles I've ever witnessed.
The Cuban people are starving. They have no power or water and limited medical care. They kids can't do their schoolwork. The adults can't make a living wage. People are dying. Life-saving services — like oxygen, dialysis, incubators, and ventilators — are unstable. But these... worthless humans are down there partying like it's 1959. And believe me, I'm being generous when I say "worthless humans," but my editors won't allow me to say what I really want to call them.
First up is this guy Hasan Piker. I was not familiar with him until he decided to show up in Cuba and not only exploit the situation on the ground there, but broadcast his little podcast or livestream or whatever it is he does from the fancy hotel where he's staying. I have since learned more about him and not just the fact that if you look up the term "punchable face," you'll probably find his picture somewhere.
The Marxist Piker was born in New Jersey to Turkish parents, but raised as a Muslim in Turkey. He's 34 years old, he's a far left influencer, and he has one of the most subscribed-to channels on Twitch. He's a big Bernie Sanders fan, yet, like his idol, he's worth millions and just wants socialism for everyone else. He was literally wearing a $700 shirt while he walked the streets. It would take the average working Cuban years to buy something like that.
He also apparently abuses his dog.
So, as I said, this dude decided to waste power by broadcasting from his Cuban hotel on Sunday and letting us all know that the Cuban people simply love having no food or power.
Allow me to share with you one of the most ignorant, privileged quotes I've ever heard come out of someone's mouth:
"It's incredible. It's truly one of my favorite places officially...it's remarkable. The people's resilience is remarkable. There is, I mean, there's like rolling blackouts that take place throughout the day, every day, all around the country, right? Eleven million people. But today is a beautiful day out here, 75 degrees, sunny — people are partying, people are partying in the f*cking streets. I don't know if it's like an island mindset — I don't know if that has something to do with it; I'm sure it has something to do with it — but, like, they're just chilling."
First of all, you vile piece human garbage, the people aren't just "chilling" in the streets. They're outside because they have no air conditioning, water, or ways to cook inside. This isn't a party. It's not an "island mindset." It's desperation. This idiot makes it sound like he just wandered up to an all-inclusive resort in Jimmy Buffett land.

A California gubernatorial debate was canceled just hours before it was set to occur on Tuesday after mounting criticism that only white candidates in the crowded field had qualified for the event.
The criteria to participate in the debate, which was set to be co-sponsored by the University of Southern California and the Los Angeles TV station KABC, had emerged in recent days as a source of controversy in the wide-open race to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom. The sprawling field includes eight prominent Democrats and two major Republicans, as well as several other lesser-known candidates.
USC had faced condemnation for using polling and fundraising criteria for participation in the debate that had resulted in the exclusion of all the nonwhite gubernatorial candidates.
In a statement from late Monday night, USC said that the “concerns about the selection criteria” for the debate had “created a significant distraction from the issues that matter to voters.”
“Unfortunately, USC and KABC have not been able to reach an agreement on expanding the number of candidates at tomorrow’s debate. As a result, USC has made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s debate and will look for other opportunities to educate voters on the candidates and issues,” the university said in that statement.
The school added that it “vigorously defends the independence, objectivity, and integrity" of the formula it used to determine whether candidates qualified for the debate, saying it was "based on extensive research and enjoys broad academic support."

TRIGGER WARNING: The lawlessness that we are seeing happen across Memphis is caused overwhelmingly by one demographic: black teenagers.
Last night on Beale Street there were at least two separate shootings. A mob of some 200 black teens caused mayhem in the $60 million Tom Lee Park before heading to Beale Street.
Business owners on Beale tell me there were fights and stampedes all over downtown. At several had to shut down their establishments early because of the violence.
The black preachers, black business leaders and black elected leaders need to have a "Come to Jesus" conversation with the citizens of Memphis.
Enforce the curfew. Arrest parents who allow their children to break curfew. God only knows much worse last night could have been without the Memphis Safe Task Force.
We don't need any more community centers or athletic fields or basketball courts. We need moms and dads to step up and starting parenting. We'll be happy to supply hickory switches and/or belts.
And we need a district attorney's office that will fight crime instead of treating the criminals like victims.
The time for dancing around this issue with politically correct jargon is over.

Covid masking was always a hoax.
Anno Domini 2020 changed America, and not for the better. The canonization of Saint George Floyd of Fentanyl birthed the “Summer of Love” that badly damaged the blue cities that embraced it, and did worse damage to American’s respect for the rule of law. And the multitude of hoaxes foisted on Americans by our public health establishment over Covid did probably irreversible damage to American’s faith in those public health bureaucrats in particular and science in general.
To be sure, Americans still recognize the difference between actual scientists rigorously employing the Scientific Method as opposed to political hacks and power seekers employing angry, arrogant rhetoric, but few if any sapient citizens are willing to accept anything “scientists” say simply because they’re scientists and/or experts who demand they be believed and obeyed.
One of the people who did such damage to science was Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Ayatollah of masking and 6-foot social distancing. He led the Federal mask and vaccine hysteria. We were constantly told the Covid vaccine and its never-ending boosters were absolutely effective and would prevent transmitting or contracting the disease. As we’ve since learned, that was a lie. Not only did every vaccine by every manufacturer fail to prevent transmission and contraction, some vaccines caused serious, lingering illness and even death.
Masking was likewise a hoax, a control mechanism by would-be tyrants who wanted to see how far they could go in controlling the population, tyrants who are loath to give up that control. Masks were clearly inadequate. Cloth and paper never had a chance to stop viruses so tiny they can’t be seen without an electron microscope. The same was true with plexiglass barriers at checkout stands and elsewhere. Did they really believe viruses couldn’t travel around and above them? Cafes that required patrons to wear masks until they sat down apparently thought viruses only propagated five feet above ground level, and the Covid idiocies went on and on, even as “scientists” kept assuring us every one of those dimwitted, superstitious wards against viruses were essential.

A six-year-old white girl was punished because she wrote “Black lives mater/any life [sic]” after a lesson about Martin Luther King in March, 2021—because blacks are treated as sacred by American culture, especially in public schools.
The Pacific Legal Foundation wrote in 2024 (emphases added):
B.B. was introduced to the phrase “Black Lives Matter” in her first-grade class in California, during a lesson about Martin Luther King, Jr. Hearing the phrase, she felt empathy for her friend and classmate who is black. So, B.B. drew a picture of them and two other friends and wrote “Black Lives Mater [sic]” across the top.
Below, she added “any life” and handed the picture to her friend.
Little did she know her caring gesture would prompt a shocking overreaction from the school and a dangerous legal precedent that leaves children completely stripped of constitutional rights.
When B.B.’s classmate took the drawing home, her mother contacted the school, concerned that her daughter was being singled out for her race. In response, the school principal forced B.B. to apologize to her friend, banned her from drawing at school, and banned her from recess for two weeks.
