Trump has always said things that make people think he speaks before he thinks so his comments should not be a surprise. But when inflation is actually being reduced and a recession is being forecast, perhaps a more measured statement from the fed about future rates should be expected. I think the Trump statement is more about frustration over what seems to be political criticism of his policy. I would add that the fed seems to have been wrong on a lot of forecasts in the last few years and it makes me wonder how much of what they are doing is based on something other than economics.
Assuming that legislation of some sort is needed. What would you suggest needs to go into the bill?

To me, some sort of ability for the NCAA to set up transfer rules that can't be challenged by a court, some partial relief of the major income producers from title nine, and some provision for sharing the revenue generated by a particular sport with the people who play that sport. NIL is completely another deal but maybe there could be some legislation giving teeth to the pay for play and not really pay for name, image and likeness deals. I don't have a problem with a kid cashing in on some social media deal but simply buying players has to stop.
Been in similar situations. Quit doing family court work after about 20 years of it. Seemed like every case as about lies told by parties and by a lot of the attorneys. Not all the attorneys but enough of them. Had more than one woman who got the hell beat out of her and then within a few weeks dropped the case and reconciled, only to have a worse beating a few months later.
Yes I would not like to be that attorney, and this could turn out to be a very big deal.
I understand your message, even though a lot of the posters don't, but do you think that the judge went overboard when he demanded that the attorneys somehow get someone to contact the airplanes and tell them to turn around. The fact that it may not have been possible in the time frame involved seems to be not relevant to this judge, which is why the ruling seems to be somewhat extreme. Who is he going to hold in contempt? The attorneys who themselves don't have the ability to call back an airplane? The President? The Justice Department?
If the pitching struggles with control like it has lately, it could be a tough season. That was a large part of the problem last year. The last couple of weeks have looked rough. The ability is there but they have to find a way to limit free passes. Good pitching= 20+ wins. Last season's control issues = 12 to 15 wins.
Do you really think that someone is going to evaluate each email to determine if the employee was doing their job? Or can you believe that this is just a way to see which employee does not really exist or who feels that they are so special that they can refuse to respond? Failure to respond puts the employee into a category of being more carefully evaluated.

They are dealing with the federal civil service. They can't just cut people on a whim but if they refuse to do what the supervisor asks, they can probably be terminated. And if you have to cut, you want to cut the people who won't take instructions first.

Just like no one has ever told us who was really running the country the last couple of years. No one in the press corps would even consider ask that question.
That seems excessive. But we had a sitter for my mother who we discovered had three separate names and social security numbers and was receiving three separate social security checks. She messed up and gave us the wrong number with the name she gave us. And that was thirty years ago. Back in the day, you applied for a SS# (not assigned as it is today) and there seemed to be no limit on the number of applications you could send in, but you had to pay in on each number in order to eventually collect.
Has to be a reason for her to review it. Maybe the names are not as clear as we may want, like in some simple code or something. You really don’t want to destroy innocent people when you go after the monsters
The CBS deal is big. To me it seems clear that the Harris tape was edited to make her look better. If CBS were unbiased, there would be no reason to do that. Presenting it as though it was unedited was knowingly false (not just a slanted opinion) and likely violated the law since it was done in the context of a presidential election. The result of that investigation may eventually destroy that network.

But it may not really matter. The influence of the old media is fading rapidly as more and more people become more aware that the major TV networks are terribly biased and as likely to lie to us as not.
I am not much of a Catholic any more, so I could be confused on what I was taught a long time ago, but I thought that the date the world would end was one of the revelations Mary was supposed to have told the children at Fatima and that the Popes since then have kept that date secret.

edited to correct spelling
Rumor has it he wants to return us to the gold standard.

They would need to win a civil war to do that. And shooting him might bring that on. I expect that they would be disappointed with the outcome.
A little over seven measured in the middle of my front yard. More out back but more uneven there. Eight degrees this morning. Out on False River.
So in your view it is racist to say, truthfully, that black makes commit more crimes unless we add that there is some vague excuse for it? bullshite
I lived through the Carter years as an adult. Until Biden came along to challenge him, he was the worst president I could imagine, although now I think Johnson's policies have dropped him into that spot. He essentially said we had to surrender on energy when the arabs embargoed us and he could not come up with a way to reduce either the inflation or the interest rates. Interest rates stayed high for years after his term, and the economy only slowly got better. He was probably very smart, but was not a good leader. He had no real answers for the problems he faced.
I think that Notre Dame is about as good as they have been in recent years, meaning very good but not great. The main difference in these games is that there is no truly dominant team this year from the SEC. Several good but not truly great teams. I think that Ohio State is also about where they normally are, meaning very good and possibly great. Georgia and Notre Dame were pretty evenly matched and Notre Dame made the plays when they needed them while Georgia make a lot of key mistakes. None of that means Freeman is better than Kelly. And with the transfer portal, anyone can go from pretty good to great in one season if the guys they bring in all work out well.
Probably will take an act of congress to fix this mess. Maybe set up the NCAA to make rules about member schools and who can do what.

I would not excuse the poor coaching job over the last six quarters but a really good team will normally have juniors and seniors throughout most of the starting lineup. LSU's older players are mainly leftovers from the prior administration and are somewhat lacking in terms of raw ability. There are just not that many top players in those two classes, and Kelly's first recruiting year was affected by the short time period he had to build the relationships with the kids.

He also had a quarterback that became a truly great player that that guy covered up a lot of the shortcomings in the 2023 team. Fans tend to think that a team's success is not largely based on one player, but I think LSU had that last year. Overall, the defense is a little better than I expected considering the players on the roster but the offense is considerably worse and seems to be getting worse week to week. That is a coaching issue that he needs to address. Judge him by that. Can he get better performance from players who have not been doing well?
