Take a look at his player bio on the official team web site. Looks like DC is listed to me. Also he called his own defense at Ole Miss.

Not that it matters to you. You either like him or you don't but Coach O was his own DC his first 2 years at Ole Miss and also his last year at USC.
I believe coach O was DC his first 2 years at Ole Miss as well as HC. I also believe he served as USC DC in 2013 until he got the interim HC and maybe the whole year.
