Not sure what’s more surprising. Michigan having only 16 pts after gashing us most of the first half or Bama only being able to muster 14 pts.
Yep. Agree here too. The difficult throws are one thing but wide open guys Jalen has to get the ball to them on target. Again if he is scrambling for his life that's one thing but with with any kind if time -- hit the open receiver with a good throw
Absolutely agree. Jalen has to absolutely step up. Only point I was making is when he is struggling please receivers help out and catch some balls.
Receivers catching the ball is important. I know we have many threads about who should be QB but assuming it's Jalen then the receivers have to step up.

Right on targets are a must (Sims dropped an early one on 3rd down in the first half against Clemson which would have been a 1st down -- that can't happen).

For any throws that are even remotely catchable then they have to be caught. Last years championship game none of the receivers made difficult catches until Stewart's catch on the final drive.

You always hear when QBs are struggling then the receivers need to help them out so again assuming Jalen is QB (and we have been talking about how he needs to play) then the receivers need to step up.
It's not like the blocking was worth a damn on any of the outside runs Bo ran. Should have tried to pound more than bounce outside.
He didn't put the elephant head gear on - if that means anything. He put the head gear on of the other game and picked oklahoma.
Desmond and Herbstreit pick Clemson.

Corso picked Bama

According to this article it happened Friday but is feeling better and should be good to go.
Yeah I agree we need to make our passing game give Clemson something to think about.

If that means Daboll and Saban coming up with a scheme that gets the most out of Hurts passing (meaning no long developing routes requiring Hurts to roll out and launch it in the stands or take off) then great.

If it means Tua to provide a passing spark and give Clemson something to think about then great also.

My only question is the stage of the moment with a freshman. So maybe have packages for both? I'm sure they will figure out what they need to do.
Yeah I agree that converting 3rd downs via the air is gonna have to happen. To prevent 3 and outs at a minimum.

If we can find a way to play balanced that will be the key. Whether that means implementing a scheme that seems to work for Hurts, such as quick outs and no slow developing plays, or Tua coming in and playing well, or having packages for both. With several weeks of prep time I hope they figure it out.
You say we have to pass to set up the run. I say it's the other way around.

If we had committed to the run in last years championship game we would have won. Clemson had no answer to stop our run game until Sark went away from it after Bo went down.

We have shown this year that our run game is just as dominant but we dont commit to it. The number of touches between Harris and Bo speak to that the last few games. If we commit to the run and dominate it should make life easier for whomever is playing QB.
Officials learned not to blow the damn whistle too early. Haha.
Defense definitely stepped up and balled out today.
Hurts has played well. He has done what has been asked of him. He over threw Foster early. It happens. Ridley drops a TD. Un-Ridley like. Other than that has made most of his throws with a few he would want back. All in all a good game so far. The offense hasen't asked him to gun sling today. No need.

Not sure why every week this board goes into full whine mode about Hurts when we should be totally pumped about the way we handle teams even when we don't bring our A game. For those who keep calling for Tua he will never start this season unless Hurts goes down but instead he will play garbage time -- late 3rd qtr onwards (same as it's been for many seasons prior to this one when it comes to backup QB playing time).
Glad to see Foster involved. He is fast!
The guys with most action against FSU were Holcombe, SDH, Moses and Mosley (outside of the guys hurt).

With Evans and Jennings out for a few weeks and us playing a team we should beat easily Saban may do a variety of experimenting. So guys like Chris Allen and Ben Davis could get reps.

Saban did say in his presser that he isn't a fan of moving an ILB to OLB (or the other way around) because it leaves a hole left by the guy moving. He said it more likely means time for others to step up.

Agreed. He definitely has one more year (of his 5 years to play 4) left from his previous RS. If he gets a med RS then that would give him 2 more years of eligibility (hence 6 years to play 4 -- and the need to apply for a 6th year). If it didn't give him 2 more years then it would be a waste of time to even bother applying.
He had a couple of big hits in the game. Hope to see him light it up this year.
