Just general medicine. Would like to live as close to the hospital as possible preferably.

Dawson Park, brand new apartment complex going up between Picardy and Mancuso behind BR General. They are leasing already, I think they are expecting to open within the next month or 2.
4% is a seperate account. 4% of salary goes to retirement, and the 15K is from the rest of the take home pay
I'm in an extremely similar situation as you. Only difference is that I only contribute 4% to 401K cause I get 4% employer match. I have been able to save up close to $15, 000 in a little less than a year.

I think thats awesome that you are getting a great start on your retirement accounts, but at the same time I would probably stop all contributions after your employer match for right now. Once you have built up some savings then you can start again.

I would recommend mint.com for keeping track of all your stuff, its awesome. As for cutting unnecessary spending, don't eat out and cook alot of stuff at home. Where do you live and how much does it cost? What are the bills? My total rent/utilities is around $600/month and I think thats a pretty solid price for your (and my) income. I know some people with a similar income paying $1,000+ to live in a nice 1 bedroom place, which I'm sure is great for living, but I don't see how any of them can save any money.

If I were you (which I feel like I pretty much am in this scenario), I would save at least $10,000. Once I met that goal, I thought about what my next large expenses are going to be. Now I am working to pay for the down payment on a house that I will hopefully buy within the next 2-3 years.
Damn, well I guess that is the extreme side of it

Why couldn't you think one race was overall a better race than another but not like individual member of that race!?

Because I don't think you can just categorize groups of people like that and say one is better than the other.
For years I have heard this argument that "You can still be a racist even if you have a black friend," but how is that possible? I will start by saying that I do have black friends. They are great guys, and I feel no differently towards them than I do my white friends. I think pointing out that I have black friends would be a perfectly valid response if someone were to ever label me a racist.

Google defines racism as:
-The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
or
-Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

I don't know a better way to prove that I do not think I am superior to other races than to point out my great relationships with people of other races. If race were really the factor, then wouldn't someone that was racist towards Asians discriminate against all Asians? If not, the secondary factor is where the discrimination and prejudice comes from.

If it's more than ~3 years, put it in the market in a taxable account. And keep adding to it.

Is this as easy as just using the scottrade account I already have set up? I considered using it to buy shares of various vanguard funds. Seems relatively liquid, safe, and I can still earn a 5-10% return.

Depending on your vehicle situation id suggest saving towards that to pay cash for the next one.
I should be able to use my current car for at least the next 5 years. Its never had any problems (knock on wood) and has less than 100k miles.

Mainly looking to use it as a house down payment since I am already contributing a decent amount to retirement.

Save or short term-investment?

Posted by AgMoney2143 on 7/17/15 at 4:39 pm
I am a recent college grad with no debt. Currently maxing out my employer match to my retirement account. I have been able to save around $20,000 through previous jobs and mainly scholarships.

My question is what I should do with my take home pay after all living expenses are paid? I don't see myself getting married or buying a house for 3-5 years, but I would imagine the money I am saving now would go towards a wedding and a down payment on a house.

While I don't want my money just sitting in a savings account, earning no interest, I also would want it to be in a relatively liquid investment in case I decide to do something with it. So what are my options?
A&M and LSU constantly start threads trying to troll the other, then neither of us claim it to be a "rivalry". Disclaimer: Sorry WRTS LSU, but we aren't rivals

Meanwhile Bama and UT are all buddy buddy until the week of their game when they try to convince the world that they are "rivals".

Are these 2 "rivalries" rivals?

How did I melt? I said it sucks losing Thompson's recruiting ability but anyone would admit Bama's defense needed shaking up

I think that the OP is trying to mock people who would say that is "melting", not say you are melting...

LSU still melting though.

Games that created the "SEC bias"

Posted by AgMoney2143 on 10/20/14 at 9:08 am
I've noticed more and more people complaining about how there is an SEC bias, and how 4 of the top 5 is ridiculous. Other than all the national championships in a row, what games led to the thinking that the SEC is just better? For the record, the SEC is just better... Starting around 2005/2006 when the SEC bias began to pick up steam, until 2011 where it was very clear that SEC > everyone else, name some games other than the NCs that showed the SEC dominance. I'll begin:

2005:
LSU 40 - Miami 3
UF 34 - FSU 7

2006:
LSU 41 - ND 14

2007:
LSU 48 - VT 7
UGA 41 - Hawaii 10
UF 45 - FSU 12

2008:
Alabama 34 - Clemson 10
Ole Miss 47 - TTU 34
UF 45 - FSU 15

2009:
UF 51 - Cincinnati 21
USC 34 - Clemson 17
UF 37 - FSU 10

2010:
Miss State 52 - Michigan 14
USC 29 - Clemson 7
Alanama 49 - MSU 7

2011 (the year of the SEC bias ):
USC 34 - Clemson 13
UGA 31 - GT 17
LSU 41 - Oregon 27
LSU 47 - WVU 21

Im sort of thinking they need to shut up until they at least go to ATL for the game.
What did Ole Miss ever do to you?
