American diver Alison Gibson, 25, scored a 0.0 after colliding with the diving board during the preliminary round of the women’s 3m springboard. Here's what she had to say about it...

My faith has been challenged a lot through this and I don’t understand why God would let this happen to me as I have walked so faithfully with him over the past year, but I know his plans are greater than mine and it is not my duty to understand them.

My heart and my body hurt, but I know that this competition does not and will not define me. If you have a moment when you feel like all is lost, don’t give up hope. You are beautifully and wonderfully made.

I don't think God is pulling the strings of a diving competition. It's just a crutch for her to emotionally get through her disappointment.

Now you know when both teams pray before the game that God has to do a background check on each team's members before he can decide who he lets win.

She's trained for several years to reach this event and some people have the element of faith in their daily walk. I applaud her for this despite your opinion. It's a pressure cooker when you're all alone to simply not mess up what you practiced 1000s of times. She will be fine and bounce back.

Everybody has a bad fricking day and sometimes they happen at the absolute worst time. Feel bad for her - hope she bounces back and good on her for leaning into it. So many don't these days.
