South Carolina coach Shane Beamer revealed that linebacker Bangally Kamara will redshirt the rest of the season and enter the transfer portal in December, per Yahoo Sports.
quote:
"He came to my office yesterday and told me he was redshirting, I told him that's not quite how this works," Beamer said, telling him they can have a discussion about this role. "He was a guy that played a season high in snaps on Saturday (against Ole Miss) that was going to continue to play more for us going forward. My job is to do what's best for the team ... that was (have) him out there for Alabama ... he didn't quite feel the same."
South Carolina has 11 linebackers listed on the roster, but mainly uses captain Debo Williams, Bam-Martin Scott, Demetrius Knight Jr., Mohamed Kaba and Fred Johnson. Beamer said Kaba and Johnson will fill Kamara's spot in the rotation.
Kamara transferred to South Carolina after four seasons at Pittsburgh. He has only played in four games so far this season, allowing him to redshirt. He missed the Akron game due to injury. At Pitt, he logged 60 solo tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and one interception.
He's logged nine total tackles for the Gamecocks, seven of them solo. He had one tackle for a loss of 1 yard, which was against Ole Miss.
