South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp received some good news on Thursday morning when four-star pro-style quarterback Jake Bentley from Opelika, AL announced that he has committed to the Gamecocks.

He made the news via Twitter:

Bentley, a 6-4, 213-pound prospect from Opelika High School is rated the No. 2 pro-style QB in the country and the No. 2 overall player from the state of Alabama for 2017, according to ESPN.

South Carolina currently has six verbal commitments for 2017 with Bentley on board.

The more apropos question would be, "how does Boom get QBs and Spurrier couldn't?" Boom holding-on to McIlwain was huge, but getting Bentley was not a big surprise considering his Dad, Bobby, is the RB coach at Carolina and he (Jake) basically grew-up a Gamecock fan as well. Boom learned his lesson about QBs at UF ... he'll be signing a good one every year hopefully.

Another big time QB in back2back years for Muschamp and staff. He'll probably be an Elite 11 Finalist as well.
