According to the Montgomery Advertiser, a Nick Saban High School was a name under consideration for a new school in Montgomery, AL. Luckily, they've gone with the name New Park High School instead. Montgomery Public Schools spokesman Tom Salter made the following statement, which was cited by the newspaper...
quote:

“As big as an Alabama fan as I am, it would likely not be an appropriate choice, especially this close to the Plains.”
Speechless.

There's not one public school in Alabama that I could find named after Rosa Parks yet some want to name one after Saban? Saban!? Amazing Alabama, simply amazing. At least someone had the sense to reject the name. If I'm wrong on this I'll own up to it but even then, the thought of naming a public high school for the current coach of the Alabama football team just strikes me as absurd.
