The weekend wasn’t particularly good for those supporting Auburn, unless you made a purchase from Alabama jeweler Jeff Dennis. He ran a promotion to refund the sale price of purchases made from November 16-23 if either Alabama or Auburn were shutout.
quote:

“There were some tense moments in my house in the 3rd and 4th quarter and I was probably the only home that was a little concerned but it’s all good I’m insured so we’re having fun,” said Dennis.

Dennis says that Lloyd’s underwriters will be on the hook for about$50,000, though it will take a few days to total everything up. One customer will get around$7,000, Dennis said, and 300 or so customers in all will get their money back. “We’re going to have a big refund party soon,” he said.

He was pulling for a shutout. He pays the policy premium whether it was a shutout or not. He wins, his customer's win. And these policies aren't tied to his normal insurance policy. It's a separate company that specializes in this type of coverage. So, it won't affect his premiums going forward.

What an idiot! Did he not see any Auburn games this year prior to the Bama game?

A merchant almost always has a separate insurance policy when they run these types of promotions. If anything the merchant is a genius. He made $50K in one week. So what if the insurance company drops him. It was probably a one time policy anyway. The guy must be a Vandy grad.

He wasn't an idiot at all - he got insurance.

i'm sure he knew what he was getting into, hence the insurance policy.
