Columnist Thinks SEC Should Be Limited To 1 CFB Playoff Spot
Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports
With Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC and potential playoff expansion, Conn Carroll of the Washington Examiner thinks it’s time to limit the SEC to just one playoff berth...
quote:

Yeah, the SEC is untrustworthy, and the 12-team playoff outlined above would only reward them for it. Not only would the SEC champion get a bye every year but all six at-large selections would go to SEC teams too. The college football postseason would look even more like an SEC invitational tournament than it already is.

Instead of rewarding the SEC with even more playoff spots, college football should go in the opposite direction and only give them one.

Does it really matter? These people must be real idiots huh? They’re the same ones who created this mess. The SEC went a different route, and the rest thought they’d be the wiser and stay with less competition. This in turn made the SEC more competitive, coach’s and players started coming to these schools, the money followed and now you have the SEC as the most competitive conference which pays the best to play in it. TVs have to follow or get burnt as well. There’s nothing you can do about it. Even if you allow the “SEC bully” one playoff spot, you’ll have the same SEC National Champion every year. Which will still generate more interest in the SEC. That’s what’s wrong with you idiots in the first place. While you’re looking at 2nd or 3rd place, the SEC is looking at top spot! Try to be different, try to create something to compete instead of creating a system to not compete. Puss!

1. Develop CFP to alleviate doubt in system 2. Top conference rises further above masses due to CFP 3. Blame top conference for demonstrating superiority. Idiot.

are the two best teams in football playing? probably yes. Do I find it interesting in anyway? No. College football is dead to me as far as national champs go. At this point, esp going forward, SEC champ is all that matters.

How many conferences still don’t even have a conference championship game? Not to mention the weak inter conference play so the 1-2 decent teams get a cakewalk to the post season.

I disagree that the SEC would get all the extra spots. If you do 12, give all 5 power 5 champions a slot, give the next two highest non Power5 champions a slot and then give the next 5 highest ranked teams to the next 5 slots. Now I could say limit one conference to 4 teams, but what would be the point.

What a shite way to put this, god damn do better. Here is the full thing. "This Saturday, the College Football Playoff management committee will meet in Indianapolis to see if they can reach unanimity on a playoff expansion. It is unlikely the committee will reach an agreement, which is good because the playoff expansion model they are looking at will only make the current problems with postseason college football worse. Here, from Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger, is what the most popular proposal would look like: Dellenger goes on to note that this model was cruising to approval earlier this year before Oklahoma and Texas bolted for the SEC, which Dellenger notes “hurt feelings around the country and painted the league as untrustworthy.” Yeah, the SEC is untrustworthy, and the 12-team playoff outlined above would only reward them for it. Not only would the SEC champion get a bye every year but all six at-large selections would go to SEC teams too. The college football postseason would look even more like an SEC invitational tournament than it already is. Instead of rewarding the SEC with even more playoff spots, college football should go in the opposite direction and only give them one. This would require a little more conference realignment, but after the mess of the last 10 years, a return to some past rivalries would do attendance numbers some good. Here is what the conferences could look like:" Basically the sec wouldnt be its current iteration so everyone getting their panties in a wad should just chill. Leo just trolled yall
