Allan Walters Highlights

His father played baseball at Alabama. He picked Vandy over Alabama and Michigan.

He's a great kid too. Congrats on the pickup.

I'm cautiously optimistic. It's a long way out from signing day for him.

I can get behind anyone wanting to make sure they are as prepared as possible for life after football. I'm sure it's a hard choice to turn down the best football team i the country for great academics so I applaud him

It's not like going to Vandy is exactly punting on his football career. His true freshman year is Shurmur's senior season, so he could take a redshirt then start for 3 or 4 years. You have to think Walters could have a very positive impact on the 2018 (and possibly other) recruiting class. If the program can keep some forward momentum, he could very well be playing for an 8-win team.

And even if not successful as a team, it's not like you can't get drafted from Vandy. Didn't hurt Jay Cutler any...
