Assuming we play better than we did this week, we will likely beat a mediocre-to-bad Wake Forest and then on to the bowl season.

Any thoughts on what bowl we'd be going to?

I still think we end up at the Liberty again. While we are tied with Georgia and Ole Miss in terms of records, no team will pick us ahead of them. Even if Ole Miss loses the Egg Bowl, they probably jump us with a better history of traveling and a head to head win. We will be the #9 SEC team, putting us in Memphis.

I agree with this. Liberty is probably the best we can hope for this year. Now, if we had held on against Ole Miss, the outlook might be a bit more promising...

In all seriousness, this is exactly why Franklin is so adamant about filling the stadium and traveling to away games. Bowl selection committees have no requirement to take teams by standings or rankings, and Vandy does not have a reputation for having a strong travelling fan base.

Probably preaching to the choir...but it is mildly annoying when you're a rising team in the SEC with ticket prices at significantly lower prices than any other team with the smallest stadium yet significant away presence is usually needed for a sellout or high attendance.

I'd prefer the Gator, but, yeah, Liberty sounds about right.

I'm aiming for the Cap 1 next year. The SEC as a whole should be down, so....

With the present situation, it seems like doors are opening for the Gator Bowl. Vandy's history makes this year tough to predict, but Birmingham should be out of the question.

It's unlikely, but I'd sure like to make the Chicken bowl!!

Great win yesterday! I think we end up in Memphis.

We're either going to Jacksonville or Memphis at this point. Depends on 1) if there are 2 BCS SEC teams and 2) if there are 2 SEC teams in BCS, if Gator Bowl thinks an excited but much smaller Vandy fan base or much larger but very deflated UGA fan base will travel better and/or make a better match-up.

There is no way we go to MCB again. They'll take anyone over us at this point just because it's not good business for Nashville to have the home team. Oh, and the fact that much of our fan base has publicly stated we want to travel, not stay home for our bowl.

Oh, how I wish this were true. I hope we go to Jax.

frick that. Of course we get hosed. Oh well, I plan on being in Birmingham and having so much energy that I make that shithole crumble under my feet.

It's just frustrating. I guess it is nice to be out of state, but by prestige, we just got downgraded. I hope the Gator Bowl enjoys their empty stadium while we fill Legion!

Was just looking up some attendance info I found interesting. Guess which year the old All-American/Hall of Fame bowl in Birmingham shows as the high-water mark for attendance? That's right: 1982 for Vanderbilt vs. Air Force with an attendance figure of 75,000. Has to be something weird going on with it as that is considerably higher than any other season shown. Anyone know why?

ETA: Found a newspaper article from 1988 showing that they sold all the tickets, but actual attendance was 54,399. A Brief History of the All-American Bowl

Very interesting. That is still quite a bit higher than other games from that era. The actual BBVA Compass Bowl record is from last year at 59,135. What will the other fans say if we get near that?

"Oh, well, Birmingham is only 3 hours from Nashville." Let's shut 'em up by filling a bowl that no one else cares to attend while UGA leaves the Gator Bowl empty. Make them regret not taking us.

Some posters on Vandy Mania say projected Gator attendance is around 20k. Serves them right. I can't wait to see the TV ratings too.

LINK

UGA AD thinks they'll sell half of their 15k allotment. The bowl won't care about that though. They'll only care about sales through their website. I do think it's hilarious. We sold 10k in 4 days with a fairly disgruntled fanbase at being snubbed.
