Senior wide receiver Jordan Matthews was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Kentucky on November 16, 2013.
Matthews caught a career-best 12 passes for 141 yards to cross the 1,000-yard mark for the second straight season. Matthews is the only Commodore to record two 1,000-yard receiving seasons in his career. Matthews extended his streak to a SEC-leading 31 games with at least one catch and posted his SEC-record 16th career 100-yard receiving game.
Matthews has 83 catches for 1,076 yards this season and is now just three catches behind former Commodore Earl Bennett for the SEC career record in receptions with 233. Matthews already holds the SEC record for career receiving yards and owns school records in nearly every receiving category.

Chase Garnham (Sr., LB) was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week while Paris Head (R-Fr., CB) was named SEC Freshman of the Week (sharing the award with LSU CB Reshard Robinson) for their contributions to Vanderbilt's 14-10 victory at Tennessee.
This marks the first time since the 2012 Kentucky game that multiple Vanderbilt players have been recognized during the same week by the conference.
Garnham had a season high seven solo tackles and 10 total stops to pace the Commodore defensive effort, limiting Tennessee to its' lowest point total in the series since 1968.
Head was inserted into the secondary when both starting cornerbacks went to the sidelines, intercepting two passes, including one coming on a fake field goal in the fourth quarter.

Very deserved. Our defense was stellar that game. It's a shame that they are overshadowed by how awful our offense was.
