Agreed, once you eat BBQ in Memphis there's rarely a decent substitute.

it's messed up, then you have charleston and low country food to our east, seafood to the south and what do we get, chicken and waffles? bummer man.

Which one? I eat at the one in Bogart from time to time and it's just fine. One of the few places that actually has true "stew".
Butt Hutt is where Jot 'Em Down moved to and people seem to like them, though their stew is not stew as far as I'm concerned.

I guess y'all are just picking on local spots, not chains? Ruby Tuesdays and Chilis are worst than anything else in this thread.
Wild Wings was terrible when it was downtown, but I don't think it's there anymore.

Last time we went to Wild Wings, the health grade was a 23. That was about 7 years ago. Nuff said.

Is there even a Ruby Tuesday in Athens?
If chains are included, then Applebees takes the top (bottom) spot going away. How it's parking lot is full every Thursday-Saturday night is a damned mystery to me. Its menu couldn't be more generic and its food manages to be both over-salted and bland at the same time.

No, but there's one in Winder. Go figure.
Frankly, as far as chains go, I don't think Chili's is that bad. Chicken Cripers with the Honey Chipotle sauce are good as well as the sweet and spicy chicken. Applebees has one thing on the menu I like (if they still have it). Otherwise, blah. Both have a version of the molten chocolate cake dessert which is pretty good.
Personally, I like Carrabba's.

I've lived in Athens 15 years, and of all the things I've learned to do, ignoring chain restaurants is near the top to the list.
