enrollment. You guys can tout your football program all day long, but don't try to make ANY academic comparisons - it's just sour grapes and makes you look silly.

"ANY"?

Do you want to stand on that or shall I make you look silly...

Jacketfan, for some reason, gets really defensive over academics to have never even attended GT.

Very true. He probably attended Athens Tech.

By all means, go for it.

No, I didn't attend Tech ... did go to UGAg for a semester, though. Miserable.

I have connections to Atlanta and Tech that date way back. My family has always loved Tech and a few of them attended, played sports for, and graduated from Ma Tech. It's an amazing institution that I am proud to be associated with, even if only tangentially.

Hold the phone, you claim to be some huge Ga Tech Fan, take a dump on UGA academics, and yet you went to UGA for a semester?

That is inherently contradictory to everything you claim to stand for.

What's your point?

Aren't you in your seventies?

Pretty sure UGA was still on the quarter schedule instead of semesters back in your day....

Yeah, but most of the young-uns wouldn't have understood, so I used their vernacular.

Considering that UGA really only decided to try to increase its research aspect and national academic standing within the last 20 years, post-HOPE, they have come a long way. The fact that the medical school and engineering schools are at separate institutions has always affected both its research funding and endowment.

Adams may have been an a-hole, but his thought to push UGA forward wasn't wrong.

This is truly rich and I will let it stand as nothing can prove my point better than the above...

Don't pay any attention to Tech trolls.. they crave attention..

Anyway Yes UGA has made tremendous strides to be a national recognized university. Since 2001 we have created the following schools:

College of Environment & Design
School of Public and International Affairs
College of Public Health
School of Ecology
College of Engineering
UGA-GRU partnership

Terry's undergrad school ranks 27th (15th for public school) with many top rank programs like
LINK

Risk Management and Insurance 1st
Real Estate 3rd
Management Information Systems 8th
Accounting 15th
Finance 26th

Our law school is ranks 33rd
Public affairs ranks 4th
Vet school ranks 9th
Pharmacy ranks 26th
Fine arts ranked 22nd

We are constructing a $98 million dollar building and facility for our Vet school
LINK

We are also constructing a new Terry business school campus worth $90 million dollar

Yes we have tons of things going on to constantly improve the academics of UGA regardless of what Tech trolls say.

No it is not so easy since UGA is not specialized like Tech at a one thing. We have a very well rounded school with tons to offer. It is very difficult to be ranked in the top 10 for a public school like UGA that offers so many different things. Obviously your not smart enough to understand that. Obviously you never went to Tech according to your previous post so I am not surprised. This is my last message to you since I don't want to waste any more of my time, effort, brain cell.

I did... And if you were smart enough to get into Tech or stay in UGA, you would have understood...

Here's the list of top-tier R1 institutions - look at where Tech falls and then find UGAg. Also note the diversity in the kinds of institutions listed.

LINK

UGA ranks high in the public schools list because of its relatively low tuition and a handful of decent colleges (journalism, vet, forestry, pharma), that's not the same as being a globally recognized research institution, which is what Tech is.

Part of the reason our vet school isnt top five is because most of the research part is "farmed out" to the animal science division on the ag school so we dont get those points in the rankings. They work hand in hand but are technically separate entities. If they were to merge, vet school would be top 3 on any list.

Tech is an excellent school. UGA is not considered on the same level, but it is considered by most sane people a very good school with some excellent individual schools. You did not graduate from either school. So, yes, I will make personal attacks until you understand the level of deuchbaggery you are portraying on this very website...
