My preference is for him to retire, and I don't want him fired mid-season or anything, he deserves to go out with some sort of dignity, but if he doesn't retire he should be let go.

Out. I've slept and considered what's going on. i don't think he should be fired for the season playing out like many here expected based on new hires and current personnel. The dividends will be paid in the next few years based in the investment made. This wasn't going to be our year but we need to have things play out like we wanti in the next few.

A numbered list will make it easier for him. Make sure you check underneath your beds and in your closets each night after you say your prayers.

This was a comment from Cuylor Leverett on the AJC article "Much Blame to go Around".
"My post from last year just in case you missed it:
UGA fans will find this interesting one way or the other. Please forgive the long post. I have heard a ton of “Fire Richt,” and I have read even more pro-CMR (Coach Mark Richt) articles. First a disclaimer: I AM NOT OF THE OPINION THAT COACH RICHT SHOULD BE FIRED RIGHT NOW. However, he should be on the hot seat.
Here are some things I’ve been hearing:
1) “Vince Dooley sucked in 1979 then won a national title!”
News Flash…. Dooley was no Bear Bryant. He only won 65% of his games when the greatest player to ever play was not wearing red and black. Sure, he won a National Championship. So did Gene Chizik. If you think that the second coming of Herschel is on the way, by all means CMR has a chance at winning the big one.
2) “Look at what happened to Tennessee after firing Fulmer!”
Really? Quit being a sissy. If you think that the odds of UGA having a Kiffin level screw up are that good, you are scared of your own shadow. On the other hand, lets go to Auburn in 2008. They canned Tubberville that year. He had an 85-40 record at the time and had coached Auburn to an undefeated season. Since then they’ve won a NC, gone to another, and won 2 SECs. In that span CMR hasn’t done Jack.
3) “Who would we hire that is any better?”
Who was Urban before Florida? Who was Miles before LSU? Who was Spurrier before Florida? Who was Jimbo before FSU? I know that these guys had some success before, but come on. You get a great coach by taking a chance.
4) “Coach Richt has a high winning percentage.”
The case is being made that CMR has a winning percentage of 74%, which is the highest winning percentage in UGA history. His winning percentage over the last 5 years is 68% (if I went back 6 years it would be 67%). 74% is misleading. In fact lets look at his winning percentage over his career:
2001 66%
2002 81%
2003 80%
2004 81%
2005 78%
2006 79%
2007 79%
2008 78%
2009 77%
2010 74%
2011 74%
2012 75%
2013 74%
2014 74%
I see a downward trend. What about you?
Now, lets take a look at his winning percentage trailing over the past 5 years (taking the percentage over the previous 5 for each year).
2005 80%
2006 80%
2007 78%
2008 78%
2009 74%
2010 68%
2011 68%
2012 69%
2013 66%
2014 68%
Another downward trend. As you can see taking a look at winning percentage doesn’t do CMR any favors.
5) “I prefer having a great person to head our program.”
This is the dumbest statement of all. Is the insinuation that CMR is the only morale, upstanding, and honorable coach in football? Are we calling other coaches cheaters? Just because CMR doesn’t miss church on Sunday, other coaches are now immoral sleazy criminals?
6) “He’s been close to winning a National Championship!”
He has not won one. He has not been to one.
I’ll give you that we were one tipped pass from beating BAMA. Maybe, if Terrence catches that ball in Jacksonville 12 years ago, we would have gone. Do we all assume that there weren’t tipped passes, dropped balls, and bad calls against LSU, Auburn, Alabama, FSU, and Florida during their respective championship runs? Overcome. Outcoach. Outplay. Make your own destiny not excuses.
7) “He has won 2 SEC Championships and gone to 5!" He has lost 3! The East has been a mess for years now. We haven’t won the SEC in almost 10 years. Put it in perspective. The last time UGA won the SEC George Bush was starting his second term, Katrina was tearing up New Orleans, Michael Jackson was in court, and gas was under $2.00 a gallon.
8) “He’s such a great man!”
SHUT UP.
Lets take a look at a few other numbers on CMR. First off lets look at the records for the last 5 years of their career on 4 UGA coaches.
Richt 45-21
Donnan 40-19
Goff 36-21-1
Dooley 30-17-3
No one was happy with Donnan, Goff, or Dooley during their final couple of seasons. Yet none of their records are signifnicantly worse than Richt, if at all.
Lets compare UGA under Richt to some of our SEC rivals and neighboring schools. I will be the first to admit that CMR has been an outstanding recruiter. His ability to attract top talent to our university is second to none. His ability to coach that talent up and translate that talent in to wins is more than questionable. I would like to contend that, if you are recruiting top ten classes every year, you should be a perennial top ten team. I averaged the recruiting class rankings from 2009-2013. I then averaged each of these teams final ranking over the past 5 years (unranked teams were counted as being 25th). By subtracting the team ranking from the recruiting class ranking, I established a factor to judge these team’s ability to coach up talent. I know this isn’t exact science, but it is eye opening.
Avg Class Avg Finish Factor
Auburn 11.8 14.4 -2.6
Alabama 1.8 4 -2.2
Clemson 13.8 16.2 -2.4
South Carolina 17 13.6 +3.4
LSU 8 12.4 -4.4
Florida 4.8 21.8 -17
Florida State 5.2 11 -5.8
UGA 7.8 17.6 -9.8
Two things stick out. First, Will Muschamp really screwed the pooch in Gainsville. He had tons of talent and did nothing with it. Second, CMR has wasted a lot of talent in Athens. The only team with worse results than the Bulldogs is the Gators. Those are the same Gators that won 4 games a year ago. Those are the Gators that block themselves. Those are the Gators that lost to Georgia Southern. Those are the Gators that whipped our butts this year. UGA has ended the season ranked twice in the past 5 seasons. They were ranked 18th in 2011 and 5th in 2012. Folks, that is horrible, disgraceful, and unacceptable.
Like I said before. I AM NOT SUGGESTING THAT WE FIRE HIM NOW. Do I think that we would have a better chance of future success without him? Not immediately, but in the long term, yes. Do I think that he can win a National Championship? If Pruitt gets it done on the defensive side of the ball and we win one in the next 3 years or no, and I think that the odds are slim. Pruitt is the only reason I vote that he doesn’t get canned right now. Had he kept Grantham for one more year, I would be calling for his head. I will be pulling for CMR and the Dawgs in our up coming bowl game and again next year. Albeit, with lowered expectations. I still contend that CMR is a great guy and a good coach. He is not a great coach. The problem with having a good coach is that you get stuck with him (see Bobby Cox). A good coach occupies the seat and prevents you from giving someone else a chance. CMR will have some good years in the future. He will have years that he only loses 2-3 games. The problem is he loses 2 games when he should go undefeated. He loses 4 games when he should lose 2. We come out flat and lay an egg at least twice a year. We will do it again and again and again. You can’t teach an old Dawg new tricks."

I know that guy, and he speaks the truth. Using his career winning % is very misleading as it can gloss over more recent trends showing chronic disappointment.
