Fair assumption but I'd expect the latter over the alternative

Lanning will be a candidate for Memphis, as will Odom. Schumann will get DC position calls. Dell McGee would be my pick to be next to leave the staff.

It’s already out there. McGee isn’t going to stay a highly paid RB Coach forever. My frustration with Kirby goes beyond Wasting a top 5 OT and a 1000 yard RB on an outdated offensive philosophy. We all have known that Pittman and McGee and Lanning and Schumann would be wanted men

I commented a couple of months ago that we didn’t need him anywhere near our program. It may be time to sell our souls though.

I just simply don't understand HOW kirby can be so stubborn as to not think we need to make a change. I get the WHY, pride is a powerful thing, and letting go of all you've ever known in your career and branchign into the unnown can be a scary thing. So I get the reason behind him being so hesitant. But at this point it's crystal clear what needs to be done, and what's even more perplexing is that his mentor, who he learned to style his entire coaching persona and football philosphy around, did this like 5 years ago (while kirby was still there!) and we can see the positive results.

Our current style of ball would work just fine even as recently as like 2012-2014ish..but the game has simply changed too much to keep doing it that way. If you don't have an offense that can score points, BY PASSING, you simply aren't going to win. Or should I say, won't win a national title. If we're content wiht 10 wins and the east then sure keep it up, but I mean that's our ceiling. Look at the offense of every CFP title winner: 14 OSU, 15 Bama, 16 Clemson, 17 Bama, 18 Clemson, 19 LSU/OSU...they all have similar offenses with dynamic playmakers at QB (15 bama being the only exception). It'd be different if we always played lousy defense and our goal going into the year was to try to slow the game down and take the ball from the other team, but that's not the case. We are a defnsive program and currently have an elite defense. Bringing our offense into the 21st centruy seems like a no-duh common sense answer to get over the hump. Just flabbergasting why we refuse to adapt.

I am not sure why either would do this but if I am Kirby I offer anything and everything for Bill Bedenbaugh and Shane Beamer. Even further, I think Kirby has opportunity to make the best of a bad situation. If you are going to lose the best coach on your abysmal offensive unit then nuke it. Retain McGhee and fire Coley, Hankton and or Hartley.

None of the things I described above will happen but I have yet to reach the acceptance stage, still at bargaining.

1000% Joe Brady. He will make Mathis a star.

yeah or how bout belicheck as an analyst?

Ok that was unnecessarily snarky but brady is not even a remote possibility so people don't need to get disappointed when it doesnt' happen.

Not only that but we don't even know if Mathis will be able to play any time soon or at all.

I'm not counting on mathis do ever do anythign for us as bad as that sounds. He was always a project, a raw, lanky guy that we could potentially mold down the line but 1)a brain injury is no joke and who nkows if/when he'll ever be fully ready 2)what's the point of having a dual threat guy if we dont' run a dual threat offense?

realistically we have to go after D-Eriq king and tell Fromm his spot isn't safe.

Any chance Matt Luke can be a name to look out for as a candidate for the OC position for us?

In theory I'd love to have King, I mean who wouldn't, but if we don't make any changes to the offense he'll go to waste just like fields did. Now if Fromm makes a massive mistake and goes pro early then I'd be fine going all-in on King and letting the chips fall where they may. But if Fromm comes back it'd kinda be a waste. What we'd really need is to scour the portal for any WR that looks like they might even possibly be good. I'm worried sick about our WRs next year, not good.
