Selective quoting is a sure sign of a weak position.
"If he feels good" is less about his ability to diagnose his condition and more a matter of indicating that it is not *the program* that is pushing him back onto the field, rather they are simply stating that based on his recovery path he is eligible.
Citing Dom Blaylock is a bit ridiculous because he was never cleared to play before getting hurt again. He re-injured himself during straight line running which is part of the rehab process.
There are plenty of examples of guys who have come back from ACL repair faster than Pickens. Good write up on Amari Rodgers here.

Not addressing my main point is the sign of a weak position. The top knee doctor for one of the best medical facilities in the country says it’s dumb to come back earlier than 9 months. And he also says it’s rare to get back to full speed until a year after surgery (not injury).

I assume you didn't read the article then. Yes the "average" time to return from a standard surgery is between 8-10 months, though the Andrews Institute has a running study using stem cells as a therapeutic to improve speed of recovery. Yes... that Dr. James Andrews, recognized as one of the most influential men in sports and certainly at a minimum equally as qualified to speak on the subject as your selected example, if not more so.
quote:
Pickens had seen Dr. James Andrews and was cleared for non-contact route-running drills this week.
Again... What information do you have that the doctors and medical staff that work with George directly do not? Do you really think they are wanting to stick their neck out to potentially wreck a guy's career on a poor decision?
But by all means... keep enlightening us with how much more knowledgeable you are than the docs in the room.
