Ventilation could help mitigate risk but most modern classrooms don't provide that option. Without good ventilation distancing might not be adequate.

Actually a very good point. But, I would question that classrooms are not ventilated well. I would think building codes would have to be met.....but I also understand that Covid is whole different animal.

So, are you of the opinion that Universities do not care about the average student? I just think that is wrong. If they are not taking proper steps to safeguard all students, then lawsuits would follow.

Not saying I am right....just saying that what I am saying is logical.

The colleges are in a tough spot. Virtual classes are safe but few students want to pay full tuition for a devalued experience. In light of that fact, most schools are determined to hold in-person classes regardless of the elevated risk. That decision is about dollars, not health.

Colleges that cancel football will use that decision to claim concern for student health. With all the other students at risk, I'm not buying that claim.

So are you of the opinion that there is more or less concern for the average student? I mean what alternatives do you see the colleges having other than what they are doing?

Since you don’t watch soccer I’ll let you know that every corner kick the players are closer together than they are in a huddle

And how many corner kicks happen in a game? (I don't even know what a corner kick is, so I'll trust your answer) I am betting there are far more huddles and pileups after a run than there are corner kicks.

Colleges should require masks for in-class attendance. Online instruction should be available for students who prefer that. Athletes should be allowed, but not required, to compete. As long as in-person instruction is in place, sports shouldn't be shut down.

I can see that. Smaller classes would help, too. I see nothing wrong with what you say.

The schools are really treading in all new territory right now. If someone gets sick and dies, can they be sued? How about if an athlete gets covid and dies....can the parents sue? All interesting topics. I have no idea the answers to those questions.

Only 3 people under the age of 20 have died with CV in Georgia. Two of them had a significant known co-morbidity.

Guess how many people under 20 in GA died from flu last year?

Point being that all this fear over young people getting back to normal, or something close to it, is not backed by any science, whatsoever. So, one must ask, in the absence of a scientific or objective reason, why the bullshite around it all? What is it motivated by?

I understand and agree. My argument revolves around why we hear more about precautions are made for athletes than for regular students.

Huddles, piles created from tackles for instance. That brings players in close proximity to each other in a big way. I mean neither of those exist in soccer.

Well, other than the group sex that seems to follow every goal, I suppose.

Look who's out here advocating people not wearing masks! So wait....it's hard to get covid from someone that doesn't have covid?

People should wear masks.

Canceling football does absolutely nothing to mitigate the risk of having 40 thousand students on campus and in classes. The big risk is being ignored. Instead, administrators are sacrificing athletes to deflect attention from the scary reality. Not long after colleges open, college towns will become raging coronavirus hotspots.

Let's all go hide under a rock. Maybe if we hide long enough this will all go away.
