If he is there at 8 the Falcons need to jump.

I know I know "BUT DEFENSIVE END"...uh huh and I have watched the Falcons going all the way back to the Andre Bruce pick pass on HOF offensive talent to make defense reach picks on need. A great running game makes your defense better, and if you're picking in the top 10 I want someone who is going to score touchdowns.

We had the worst defense in the league last year, not just kind of bad, literally ranked 32 out of 32. If we take a running back in the top 10 rather than trying to address our defensive or offensive line needs my head really might just explode this time.

You can get a good runningback who can score touchdowns in the 3rd round. There is no need to waste a top 10 pick on a position that is being devalued every year.

Right now, he's seemingly projected to not be there when the Phins get to their pick. They'd have to trade up as things stand. Don't know if they will, tho.....

Realistically he goes to the Jets, Giants, or Rams

I would hate all of those. Hate.

Here's hoping the Phins trade up.

Is it really a stretch to think he would fall to 14? Sure those teams ahead might want a RB, but I'm selfishly hoping that they are concerned about his knee and take the standard line of thinking that you can get a RB later.

Also, even though I would love to have him, Lamar Miller isn't THAAAAT bad, and miami certainly has more pressing issues overall than RB.

No, no it's not. Could very well happen. We've certainly seen stranger things. I'm just basing off of what the scouts are saying and there is a lot of buzz now just days before the draft of him going in the first 10.

True, but as a Phins fan and a Gurley fan.....I just can't beat putting the two together in my mind.

Just imagine if Knowshon were still there, too.

Best option: Dallas
he would put up monster numbers behind that O-Line. FTR, I hate the Cowboys

Worst option: Cleveland
where players go to die

Who I’d like to see: Falcons
even though I’m not a Falcons fan, he would add a spark to that team. I know they need a pass rusher, but Gurley is a once in a decade back

My prediction: Miami at #14

As a Phins fan, I'd be very pleased to see them draft Gurley at 14. I would not, however, be happy about trading up to get him. We have more pressing needs at OL, LB and WR than we do at RB. If TG isn't there at 14, trade down and get more picks.

I think Gurley goes to the Falcons at eight. The Falcons are building their billion dollar monument to King Arthur but few want to watch the pitiful birds. Everyone wants to watch Gurley.

A smarter choice would be to trade down and add more picks.

The most idiotic decision would be to trade up for Fowler.

I agree with you 110%. Gurley is a position of need and will sell A LOT of season tickets. The Falcons can’t say that Freeman is an every down feature back with a straight face. They have to upgrade that position.

I think Fowler can be a difference maker off of the edge. I don’t think he’ll make it past Jacksonville at #3 so it’s really a moot point. The Falcons would have to make another Julio trade to move up to #3 and I don’t see that happening.

And you can get just as much production in the 3rd round or free agency.

The Falcons have got to get playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. That is so fricking imperative. Playmakers at RB are a dime a dozen. Wire pass rushers and run stoppers are not.

And you can get “wire” pash rushers and run stoppers in rounds 2-5. See Justin Houston, Calais Campbell, Connor Barwin, Geno Atkins, Elvis Dumervil, Greg Hardy, Kyle Williams, Robert Mathis, etc. All of which had made a pro bowl the last 2 seasons.

There is a possibility both Ray and Gregory make it to the 2nd round. If the Falcons see otherwise, trade back into the last 1st and take the best remaining guy available. Who else would they take at 8? Williams and Fowler will be long gone. Do they Falcons reach for a guy like Dupree?

If you have an opportunity to pick a transcendent talent, you do it. Best player available, the Falcons have a lot of holes. A pass rusher isn’t going to put this team in the playoffs. Why not take Gurley, fill a need, and sell ticket in the process? It is a business after all. Do I think they will? No. But it wouldn’t be a crazy pick. Just my opinion

Agreed. If only we had drafted Lacy

I just don't see any line of reasoning for taking a running back in today's league, especially one coming off a severe knee injury, in the top 10, when we are coming off a season of allowing 400 yards and 28 points per game.
