They are a middle of the pack Sun Belt team...always will be. I see them exactly where they are now in 10 years. Good for them for fielding a team and being competitive in some games

Don't see why they can't compete with App State or any other top tier C-USA team.

They have one of the better facilities in the conference plus a huge talent base to draw from.

They do need to get some better support from the student body.

I think they have the potential to become a UCF type team.

There is no reason other than a lack of commitment by the university and fan base that GSU should not be a powerhouse in their league. Great facilities, great recruiting base to a school that is easy to get into and has a good reputation academically (for what GSU is) and a MASSIVE alumni base. And an alternative to Tech in the epicenter of college football....the fan base could be HUGE with some success on the field. I think they do well in the future....

Very similar situations....that's the program I always think of when talking about GSU. GSU student body and alumni base may have surpassed UCF, no?

EDIT...GSU student body is not as big as UCF. Alumni base is probably not either given this...but still a damn big school and alumni base...

While I do think the program has some great potential,I don't see them with a "huge" fan base. Its still a tough sell for the alumni to get down and watch em play.

Did Kennesaw and Southern Tech combine recently? I know there was some talk about it but I don't know if it ever happened. Talk about a potentially great southern college gameday experience...Marietta on a Saturday in the fall??? Forget about it....I know KSU has a football program but combining the two alumni bases would make a pretty sizeable alumni base....southern tech used to have some pretty good basketball and baseball teams....

I am basing that on alumni base. LOTS of GSU graduates in the world, most still within a few hours drive of Atlanta in a football crazed part of the world where being an alumnus of a university with great football is a very positive thing....until recently all of those GSU alumni were fans of other CFB teams but for the same reasons that non-alumni fans are fans of UGA and Bama etc....because they are southerners and we love CFB in the south....given the opportunity to pull for their school and do so with some bragging rights could lead to a sizeable fan base in the future. One thing is for certain the area around the stadium is far more friendly than it used to be...it could make for a GREAT game day experience....and Atlanta is a fantastic 3 day weekend for folks from all over the country...especially the south. It could be big, with success on the field....
