This came out yesterday and has already made the rounds so was a bit surprised it isn't on here yet so figured I'd share for anyone unaware. We recently canceled our previously scheduled home and home with FSU, but instead of actually canceling it was decided to do a one-off instead of a series and have it be played at a neutral site yet TBD. Cities in the mix to host are Atlanta, Miami, Nashville, Tampa, Charlotte, New Orleans, and Orlando.

Personally I couldn't hate this anymore if I tried. I was glad that we "canceled" originally, because in the days of a 9 game SEC schedule, plus our auto-P4 game against tech, plus an SECCG (for now anyways before it goes extinct), plus multiple games against top 10 teams in a playoff....it makes ZERO logical sense to make your schedule even harder on yourself by choice. It doesn't help us one iota in regards to making the playoffs which is the only thing that seems to matter these days.

I have to ASSUME that money is the driving force here and I am guessing that both schools will get a gigantic payout for doing this. I "get it", but I still don't like it. 10 years ago I would have had my calendar circled for 5 years leading up to a home/home like this and would've been counting down the days all offseason, now it's just another soulless bland event in a corporate professional stadium with zero life or energy. If I were the one poicking I guess I'd prefer Nashville of the choices given. I think they're building a brand new stadium which is at least something differernt than we're used to, plus just on a personal level Nashville is the closest to me. Atlanta and Orlando not just no but hell no. Miami- maybe if we hadn't played there twice in the last 5 years already. Tampa- maybe if we weren't already playing there against UF in 2027, so no. Charlotte meh, it's a weird location given the two teams and we were just there 5 years ago. New Orleans is always a hoot but count me out after the last 2 years.

I think Nashville or NOLA would be fun. We’ve played in Atlanta a bunch. Don’t want Florida to give them more of a home field advantage.

Nashville is just too expensive to stay there.

I just saw yesterday that in addition to the annual "wtf are we doing this?" early season game in ireland, they're now having a similar game in friggin Brazil.

WHY?

Why the hell does college football need to expand to a worldwide audience?

Greed, money, crony capitalism

They don't give a frick about the people that love the game the most.

Playing in Charlotte could make some sense as a recruiting tool. Hasn't Kirby pulled a fair number of recruits from NC?

The new stadium in Jax should be complete by then, it would be a great snub to UF to play FSU there before we play our game there.

we'll be playing UF there like 5 games later, not sure how much of a snub it'd really be.

he has, but in today's game I don't put much stock into much of anything relating to recruiting aside from how much we're willing to pay a kid. Which absolutely sucks, but it seems to ring true more often than not.

So, you'd rather have games against Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay?

They’re trying as hard as they can to create another league or market to milk. That’s why we’re constantly getting soccer and the WNBA shoved down our throats and trying to force football on the rest of the world.

I don't find such wins compelling or satisfying, and that's not a knock on the other divisions at all.

Power 4 teams should be ashamed of playing FCS games.

I agree with this but the games should be on college campuses not soulless, corporate sponsored hell holes.

Funding these teams athletic program for the year while playing deep in the bench, gives us a look at what our future looks like. I don't mind the filler games.
