Thanksgiving weekend at noon against a team that our students haven't seen us lose to but a few times in their lives.
Not surprising I guess, but still disappointing. Too many nancy boys in our student body these days.

I actually had to explain to a UGA freshman today exactly why they needed to attend the Tech game. I had to give them a full on history lesson. They were pretty jacked up about the game once I got done with my whole diatribe, but I was rather disheartened that I even had to explain it. What the frick are they teaching these kids nowadays? Cause it sure as shite ain't UGA traditions.
Think they'd give me a job to teach these freshmen up? Cause... they need to.

I wish I could get a job during UGA orientations during the summer where after they're done with all the froufrou crap like classes and dorms and stuff, they split off and I give a several hour intro course to UGA athletics, primarily centered on football. Our fanbase gets less and less rabid every year it seems.

I know it's a joke to a lot of people but I think a lot of that has to do with kids of displaced Yankees from the Atlanta area.

absolutely, no doubt. It's also what people who talk crap about us losing in state recruits dont' understand. Kids who grow up in bumfrick alabama are died in teh wool bama or auburn since birth. The metro atlanta area has people from all over the country who likely may have never GAS about uga until they moved here.

I've noticed that many also haven't ever paid attention to UGA sports prior to college, either. I've noticed more than a few students being clueless when I have asked them if they remember so-and-so game from 2007 or that heartbreaker from 2010 or 2012. They're seriously new to all of this now when they get here and sometimes I wonder if they're just intimidated and put off by folks like us who eat and breathe this stuff so they just don't give a shite to be invested in it beyond the social parts of it.

We need to increase the importance of the legacy factor on applications.

Adams killed this in the name of increasing academic prestige and HOPE dollars

To be fair, kids go to college nowadays for the education. And as mentioned, most kids at UGA are getting too smart to even care about football et al. We are closer to being like Ga Tech than we are Auburn or LSU. Football interest directly relates to a college's grandeur.
