How are we even on the bubble? All these "good losses"?

Bracketology

Lunardi
2. Kentucky
5. Florida
6. South Carolina
9. Arkansas
First Four Out: Tennessee
Next Four Out: Georgia

lunardi guesses just like anyone else guesses. We aren't on teh bubble.

On the topic of good losses, yeah we seem to have a bunhc of those but we dont' have any good wins aside from GT who has only started to look godo the last 2 weeks. Good losses help you come selection time but only if you've actually got wins to balance them out. An entire resume of good losses doesn't mean jack.

Well, barely losing to three top 25 teams definitely can't hurt.

But it does hurt, since they count as losses instead of wins.

If you mean it's better to lose by 5 instead of 30 then yeah I guess, but that only matters if you are squarely on the bubble after conference tourney weekend and you're fighting for a spot with other teams. Which won't apply to us.

I agree, it doesn't hurt much but when you play on national TV and take the number 8 team in the country to OT on the road, that has to make people think better of your team.

yeah, maybe we can sneak into hosting an NIT game instead of going on the road because people will remember the UK loss.

You think people that watched us play Kentucky and/or Florida are gonna say, "Man, that UGA team is worse than I thought."

It doesn't MATTER what people think if we have a losing conference record and don't even sniff the tournament you numbskull.

We won't have a losing record you numbskull. You arguing that if we are close they will count close losses to ranked teams against us. I am arguing they won't.

Now you are saying if we have a losing record...we'll if that's the case then we won't even be in the discussion and the entire debate is completely moot.

UGA is currently 4-5 in conference. Are you saying there is no way UGA loses 5 more SEC games out of the final 9?

Losing is losing. It doesnt matter if its by 1 or 30. There are no moral victories. Teams are sorted by W/L records, not W/L/Almost wins. No one who matters is going to remember us taking Kentucky to overtime, especially during a stretch when they were playing absolutely horrific basketball.

No chance we finish with a losing record?

@South Carolina-playing very well. tough on road
Florida-Its Florida. They are good. Can easily beat us
@Tennessee-One of the hottest teams in the conference
Mississippi State-Should be a win
Kentucky-A top 10 team. If they are playing well, they run us out of the gym
@aAlabama-A pretty good team in the same spot as we are
LSU-Should win
Auburn-Should win
@Arkansas-Good team. Tough at home

We could go 3-6. Thats a real possibility. I think it will be hard for us to go 5-4 and finish .500 in conference.

I'd look at our schedule if I were you because that's a very real possibility.

Yes, I am aruging that LOSSES WILL COUNT AGAINST US. FFS this isn't hard. Wins=good. Losses=bad. People aren't going to say "well UGA was around a .500 team in the SEC and a few games over .500 overall, but darn it they lost some close ones. Let's put em in"

It is also a very real possibility we don't have a losing record. Your seeing half empty I'm seeing half full. If we are CLOSE and can beat South Carolina, Florida, and Arkansas they will not keep us out because we lost in OT on the road at Florida and at Kentucky. Your dense if you think those tough loses didn't garner respect for our program.

Those loses prove we can be really competitive on the road against top teams. If we had gotten blown out they'd definitely count against us.

No, those losses prove that we've had multiple chances to seal a big win on the road against a tough opponent but can't do it either because we don't have the mental fortitude or stamina or because our strategy causes us to put our bigs, our only consistently solid players in jeopardy of fouling out should we be put in an OT situation. We can't close games that we should have won (UK and UF) and we can't last in OT. That's all those losses tell anyone.

The difference is You are chugging half full despite zero evidence that uga is gonna start beating top 50 programs on the regular. Sure, it could happen, but would you really bet on it? A smart man wouldn't. You just about guaranteed uga wouldn't have a losing sec record, but Did you ever fathom uga would be 4-5 right now vs the easier half of our sec schedule? Of course not.

I thought it was very possible and taking two top 25 teams is definitely evidence not sure what law book you've studied because if you don't think that is evidence then you don't have a clue.

Come on now.

Pittsburgh is 12-10 and 1-8 in the ACC, but they only lost to North Carolina on the road by 2, at Louisville by 5, and Notre Dame by 1. They are legit and should be on the bubble. Those close losses count.

please show evidence where UGA is capable of BEATING top 50 teams. Not losing to them close, BEATING them.
