I think Auburn on the road was a pretty good win
Auburn has an RPI of 68 and a losing SEC record. If that's our 2nd biggest win we're in big trouble.

If we lose one game other than Kentucky the rest of the way we still have 20 wins before the SEC tourney
Once again, what have you possibly seen with your eyes that would lead you to believe that we can go 9-3 down the stretch?

Well we should have beaten UF on the road, its not a stretch to say we will beat them at home. We played USCe well at home, so its possible we could steal a win on the road.
The rest of the games other than the two against Kentucky are all very winnable games. If we win one of the games above we have a good shot at 20 wins.

the committee doesn't care what we "should have" done. We lost.

you're missing the point. The point isn't that our remaining games are all against teams ranked in the top 20 and it's utterly hopeless. I know the stretch we face coming up isn't that difficult. The problem is that I have no confidence in our team beating hte teams we should beat up on, and hold virutally no hope that we'll sneak a few wins against teams that are better than us. It's not that we are mathematically eliminated, it's that in year 8 under fox we know exactly who and what we are and that's not very inspiring.

20 wins is irrelevant. Making the tourney is relevant, and we aren't going to with a garbage resume.
We've played 19 games so far. We have 12 more to go (that's 31 games). Let's say we win an SECT game then lose to get eliminated. Do you really think that winning 20 out of 33 games is impressive? That's a 60% clip for crying out loud. That'd be like the football coach winning 7 out of 12 games and still be going strong in year 8. It's madness.

I never said they did. I said we should have beat them on the road, so its possible we win at home.

Doesn't mean we can't play them well and win.

I think you are missing the point. I responded to your statement what about this team would lead me to believe we go 9-3.

It is relevant because 9-3 gets us to 20 wins. Which was what I was responding to.

Stop moving the goal posts.

which is irrelevant to making the tournament.
The committee doesnt' say "20 wins? They're in!" they look at who you beat and who you lost to.
Who are some of our notable wins? GT- RPI of 94. Ole miss- RPI of 46. Auburn- RPI of 70. Vandy- RPI of 58.
We only have 1 win against a top 50 ranked RPI team and they could fall out with their next loss. Our whole resume up to this point is essentially built on losing close to good teams. That won't cut it. We could have friggin 23 or 24 wins and it still wouldn't matter if none of them are even noteworthy.

You are so obtuse. I never said anything about making the fricking tournament. Do you even read before you post? The guy said if we only lose one other game besides the two against Kentucky, we would be at 20 wins pre-SEC tourney.
You then said what makes you think its possible to go 9-3, which I then laid out the scenario in which it would happen.
What is so hard for you to understand?

I originally responded to someone else then you picked up the convo, things all ran together.
I reread and see that you weren't ever talking about making the tourney but only about getting to 20 wins, so my apologies there. I still don't believe we have much of a shot to do so.

Auburn beat Alabama bad at home. We should kill bama and we play LSU, Tenn, and Miss State. Miss St is by far the most dangerous team we play from here on out that we should win. That puts our win total at 19 and then...
FLA
USC
Arkansas
I believe we should take 2 of those three beating Florida and Arkansas.
This puts us at 21 wins before the tourney and once we get there 2 wins are reasonable.

And to piggyback off of what Barstool is saying, I am probably alone in this, if we get 22 wins or more total I think we are in the tourney.
That is including more total losses. 3 of which would likely be to Kentucky.

I had such high hopes for this season but all I've seen is regression and a stale gameplan. I guess good for Georgia basketball for getting to the point where mediocrity is maddening but can you really even call us mediocre?
Posted on 1/23/17 at 5:14 pm to Hobnail
I mean, yeah, this season is the definition of mediocre. No truly big wins, no truly big losses. Just a whole lot of meh.

We have improved our half court offensive efficiency, we have improved at rebounding for the most part, and we are overall a better team defensively.
We have not improved at our perimeter defense and our perimeter shooting is streaky at best.

22 wins with our schedule we are a lock. Not sure it will take that many.
That said, the Bama v Auburn game was closer than the final score, they are a tough team. Expect to win but doubt we blow them out, will be a battle at there place.
Miss State playing well, Tennessee is really scrappy. That game worries me at there place after the 4 game stretch of Texas, @UK, @SC, vs Florida.

I said it before the game but A&M was not a great matchup for us. Mission State and Arkansas are the games I worry most about.
FWIW, we are still 39th in RPI.

I actually loved the TAMU matchup because they aren't a team that gets out and pressures passing lanes or picks up full court. Teams that sit in and play half court defense without trying to turn us over are teams we play best against. I didn't expect the turnover meltdown against a team that doesn't turn you over to happen.

Surprisingly we handled that really well against Florida. However your right, that's not something we have handled very well in the past. The good thing about the A&M press is they don't have a choice but to address that issue because it was so glaring.
I was referring to their size and the fact that we love to play inside the 3 point line. They make the passing lanes smaller, more contested shots, it's harder to rebound, and they can block shots due to their length. We actually handleded all of that really well.

their length hurt us a lot when they trapped us in that fricking corner.
They should press more often

That's also with a prep guy that isn't ranked, according to 247. Everybody above us has more recruits ranked than us. We are bringing in a great player plus two solid players.

I should have great tickets for the game Saturday. Will try to get an ITDawg sign on TV.
