Doesn’t matter what your assignment is if the guy with the ball brushes your shoulder as he runs past you.

All these 5 star OLBs around and Chaz is still starting.
Either the coaching staff is clueless, or Chambliss is pretty good at what he does.

It quite literally doesn’t. But that’s beside the point. I was asking a specific racial question. Personally, I default to the coaches as to who plays and how much. They know more than I do. If Chaz is still out there that means he’s better at this point or (more importantly) they trust him more than someone else.

From what I remember from last year, there were multiple times that Chaz did engage with the blocker he apparently was supposed to.
but an elite player can engage and shed to make the ball carrier bounce out wider or whatever. I don't remember Chaz ever doing that. He would engage but then get stoned at point of of contact or pushed back. No consistent disruption in his game that I recall.

Do you understand what your responsibilities are when you have contain?
Posted on 8/29/24 at 11:29 am to Peter Buck
Chaz gets sucked in too much and loses contain, I hope he has learned to set the edge.

What if Branson Robinson comes out 2016 Nick Chubb style. Mercedes-Benz Stadium is the Georgia Dome and Clemson is North Carolina!

Whether he's pick that up or not is going to be key to Beck having a big game.
Agreed. If we have to sit back and throw it more, Beck will need time, because they will either bring heat, or sit back there with extra DB's and hope their DLinemen can get to Beck. My guess is they will use extra DB's because thye will have faith in their DLinemen. We all should understand, that as good as out OLine is, their DLine is considered just as good. It will not be an easy game to run the ball regardless.

If he does that....and I think he has the talent...then the entire game will take on a different tone. I want to think Robinson will be 100% and ready to go. The odss are against that, but it has happened before.

Thank you K9. You explained it better than I did so now maybe Peter Buck can go white knight for some other player.

Yes, but that premise is true for any school in the SEC
You have to anticipate at least 2 injuries in the backfield before or during the season. Automatically puts you in the rotation each game.
Being at GA, the exposure would be massive and have the ability to become the feature back.

I think Paul ending up at Jax State would indicate that our current situation would not be greatly improved by him still being in Athens.

How so? We are about to start Cash Jones or at least he is 2nd on the depth chart atm
Pretty sure Paul would greatly improve our RB situation right now

our long term/overall situation? Probably not.
Our "current" situation, as in for the game in 48 hours? It would be impossbile not to be improved by having him. When he left RodRob had made incredible strides from year 1 and Branson's recovery was coming along better than expected. Fast forward to now and Rod is out for a while and our #1 back is suspended.

If you have contain, you are taking on, usually a blocker that’s pulling. You very much don’t want the runner to bounce outside. You want to force the runner inside where LBs and safeties will fill depending on the call. If you do it right, you take on the blocker and shrink the hole while also not allowing the runner to bounce outside, because then your fill guys have bad angles. You can shed once the runner commits, but your primary responsibility is to not allow a gaping hole or worse get sucked inside allowing the runner to bounce outside. If you do your job and the runner cuts to the hole and there is no fill, then something else likely went wrong.

Hate to say it, but he should be suspended. Every traffic violator should sit a game.

Call me a sleaze ball suspend him in a game that’s not against Clemson… Tennessee Tech Sure. Is there a rule that says it has to be the first game? Or is it just 1 game
