Pretty sure Chrissy is a GT grad. 77 isn't, but has a PHD in some pretty hard shite, so he gets a pass.
Fixed.

Oh, I thought Chris said one time he wasn't. Given 77's comment's, I had no doubt that he was a graduate, which I assumed to be from GT. And if I am mistaken on Chris, I will apologize.

Personally, I've always been of the opinion that the "did you graduate from School X?" premise of one person's fandom counting for more than a non-attendee was weak as hell. I'm all for that invalidating a point of a Tech fan, but you know what I mean.
Support for a CFB program is like family- it's all about who has your heart and who'll have you, and little-to-nothing about bloodlines and documentation. Not going to school in Athens doesn't make last night's loss ache any less in all of our guts, just like it wouldn't have hurt more if I'd gone in the '94-'98 window when I was accepted but didn't attend.

I didn't say it makes it "hurt any less". My point being, if you don't have any investment in the school, be it a regular donor, or an attendee, then you really have no true ties to the school. I am speaking this as a "sidewalk" fan. I am a fan because most of my family is, and about half did actually attend UGA. That being said, I'm not a regular donor, and I don't have a piece of paper from the university. So there is little that I can say about the school that matters. And I fully admit that. Being a fan of a team based off of geography makes it more like being a fan of an NFL team. It just doesn't really matter. You have done nothing to help that team achieve success. That's all I'm getting at. Then again, in recent years I have become very cynical in my belief system. Therefore, I wonder why I have an irrational longing to see a team that I have put forth no effort into, do well. What do I, as a person, gain from it? What do I lose from it? Why should I care? Make sense?

True, Vox, but at Tech there is a part of the alumni fan base that doesn't like or respect Tech's sidewalk fans. Most of th alumni are cool, but it only takes a few assholes to spoil the barrel. My dad played ball at Tech, so I tell the snobs to go frick themselves, but they have turned off a lot of folks in the past.

While I cop to having been a moron for not going to UGA when I had the chance, you can bet your bottom dollar that this "sidewalk" fan will do everything I can to make sure my kids are raised in Red & Black, and if their needs are met by UGA's programs, that my money finally follows through the Arch.
Since it is a state school, though, any given (state of) Georgia taxpayer is financially invested in the success/failure of all of the athletics programs in the University System. I just choose to believe that all of my money goes to the program in Athens. Hell, my biggest sales commission this year came when I booked a massive inspection contract for the fire protection system at Ga. Tech, so I can't get too mad at them... I just grin at the fact that the think keeping 87 of their buildings from burning to the ground are a bunch of Dawg fans.
