Just listened to it on YouTube. I simply don't get the angst here.
Total non-story.

His behavior was odd all day.
Speech pretty much sucked and made 0 sense.
Channel 2 tried to congratulate him and ask question and he just shook his head and said “you people…” then started texting.
Honestly, he looked like he had been drinking all morning and wasn’t really there.

I just hope Stetson is done. Personally, I don't want to hear him go on a media parade griping about the media fans. Shock asked him what he was most proud of; instead of answering the question he snaps back and doesn't make it clear who's he's snapping back at. Stetson had some bad games and any fan base is going to give a QB hell when he does. What does he expect if he goes to the NFL? Still as other said he used that chip on his shoulder to motivate himself and win 2 rings.

Your honesty is worthless. I know what drinking all morning looks, acts, and sounds like. That wasn't what Stetson was today. Stetson was stone cold sober telling the media to frick itself.

Rewatching the Kirby Timeout for Stetson after seeing how he acted today was weird.
Imagine being so happy and cathartic then changing your reaction so much.

It is happening. 2 titles wasn't enough.
It reminds me of that moment years ago when we were told by the chowderpops that "the governor should have made an announcement" when it snowed in Atlanta.

Done with football? You were one those eh? Thought he should’ve road off into the sunset? Well… he’s gonna get drafted and play in the NFL. He may not lead a franchise but I’d hate to be a average to below average QB with him right behind me.

This doesn't mean that the silly gooses won't do it anyway.
I'll just count the DV's on my posts as the number of Hit Dawgs hollering.
Way too many of you motherfrickers ready to scold Stetson, yet again, when he CLEARLY referenced STORYLINES in his reply.
HE GAVE THE SAME NARRATIVE THAT WAS GIVEN BY SEVERAL OTHER PLAYERS after the NC win.
Downvote away. I want a count of all these Hit Dawgs.
Cracker, take roll.
And, while you are at it, find out just how many of these homos can explain the Cover 2....

It’s the “y’all” that threw people off, I think. It did for me, at least.
Was he talking to the fans? Was he talking to Shockley and the UGA radio crew? Was he talking about the media, generally? It seems he was talking about the media, but he didn’t specify.
He was asked what he was most proud of and he went into a tirade about being dissed, and then closed by saying they got two rings. I’m still not sure what he was proud of: the rings (championships), or the proving people wrong? Maybe both.
But that was my point. He didn’t communicate clearly and it was taken the wrong way. That chip on his shoulder needs to go into hiding when he is talking and come back out when he is competing, IMO.

I understand. I'm simply saying that, not watching it live and only watching AFTER reading the conclusions here, I was shocked at how easily I concluded that he was dissing the media. What he said was, literally, word for word what I watched other Dawgs say in the aftermath of the NC. Maybe that was lost on some of the posters here. IDK. All I know is that there were those in the media, specifically 24/7 and Josh Pate and his co-workers who conducted one of the interviews were flabbergasted at just how indoctrinated those kids were in the narrative that nobody in the media was giving them credit.
If the narrative wasn't enough, Stetson actually said the word "storylines".
Again, IDK. I was expecting to watch Stetson shite on Dawgs everywhere. That's absolutely not what I watched. I shouldn't lump everyone in together, but I'm hard pressed to explain why people are hearing and concluding so radically different from me.
I like my Hit Dawg narrative.

Shock: “When it comes to QBs at UGA, it’s cool to be standing on the stage w/ the GOAT….”
-The Crowd cheers
“Stet, obviously everyone knows your story, everybody knows you came back this year, but when we look back on your career…what’ll be the thing you’re most proud of as a Dawg?
-Steston paused for a moment and the crowd cheers…
Stetson: “Yeah, Shock, I don’t know…I don't know what I’m going to be most proud of…I keep trying to tell people I just did what I thought was right every day….and if you think you should do that..then everybody should do it, you know?
“The thing I’m going to be most proud of…”
-Stetson pauses and looks towards the team and laughs, horsing around with them
“Look at em..ha!”
-Continues speech…
“Man, ya’ll burn us, ya’ll burn us…ya’ll keep telling us how bad we were..and ya’ll couldn’t understand it…you know, we kept winning…and we kept embarrassing people…but ya’ll had other storylines….and it was 49-3…and it was 65-7…it was everything and ya’ll didnt want to believe it because you didn’t….
-Some of the crowd responds with cheers..Stetson laughs..
“It makes no sense to me….but you know screw it…we got two rings, man, you know?
-Shock talks to SVP and Chris Smith for a while and then asks Stetson another question:
Shock: “Any parting words you’d love to give DawgNation? Obviously, you’ve done so much for this University, you’ve done so much for this program..what would you like to say to DawgNation as you leave?”
-Crowd cheers, some of them are yelling out Stetson’s name
Stetson:..Hell of a question…Listen, I don’t have much to say….(looking towards the team) Ya’ll boys are coming back this year…when they say it ain’t won yet, it’s not won yet…so it’s up to ya’ll…uh…everyone in here thank you for everything…(looks back to the team)...but it’s up to ya’ll…but hey it ain’t the X’s and O’s, it’s the Jimmys and Joes, right?
-Team cheers, crowd nearly silent before they move on
-----------------------------------
I think the idea that Stetson had some resentment towards the media and fans today is correct. I think it’s pretty evident that Stetson, above all else, values his teammates more than anything, as he’s said many times before...he seems to hold a grudge with those who've doubted him...but i just hope he starts using a bit more nuance and perspective when looking at us fans who doubted him or the media..
Winning alone doesn't makes you a beloved college legend it's one of the requirements, and titles will make you great without question, but beloved is different... It’s now how you handle and connect with the fans after the winning on and off the field and after you’ve proved them all wrong….now I get that he heard a lot of crap from people especially last year, but he plays the most scrutinized position in sports, there’s always going to be idiots that say the most over the top shite when you’re not doing well, and with other sports like baseball in the 60s... Roger Maris was sent death threats for simply chasing a HR record...there are just a variety of speical idiots out there and their genes span generations but once he improved and got the titles, he converted many people including myself, but myself and many others weren't saying the most extreme dumb crap about him…it was just simply football….
What other position with an entire program is as criticized as QB? Head Coach. I’m pretty sure most of the time Kirby wants to tell everyone to go f themselves for some of the things that were said about him especially early in his tenure, i.e. ‘Kirby Dumb’… but the guy knows where to project his feelings at the right time and areas of his career...
This whole idea about the “media” alone "hating on" Stetson is silly. If you’re talking about certain SPORTS media figures, then sure, but to crap on the local news, who are just cheesy people just there to document the fluff side of the celebration is incredibly short-sighted by Stet.
I was down on the field there today at the ceremony. If Stetson walked up to me and flipped me off straight in the face with his soon-to-be two ringed finger for me being wrong about him then I’d say: “Great! I’m glad you proved me wrong”…and I'm glad I was wrong about the whole Stetson/JT debacle because it ultimatly was best for the team and that's one thing me and Stet can agree on...that damn red and black G..... but the vast majority of people don’t want it shoved into their faces, because no one likes to be wrong even if they deserve.. So guys…don’t be surprised when he doesn’t become a beloved figure in Athens in the long run with this wonky, mixed feeling he has towards the fanbase as it seemed to me live watching it…but again for me…it doesn’t matter really if he really does have the resentment..he brought home the hardware TWICE...
But I will say the awkwardness was definitely palpable during his answers..and interesting…not your typical send off message to a fanbase for sure! Ha!
So what I'm really rambling at here guys is that....you can't crap on the fanbase as a monolith..same with the media...if he wants to go that route and not give an f anymore fine, doesn't offend me personally...but I don't think it's really necessary when the majority of the fanbase was really starting to come around to him....but maybe years from now those wounds will be healed at the ten year anniversary for these teams
But good luck, number 13, go get them in NFL because your press conferences will be entertaining!

Well said. This is the aspect of the whole thing I can’t understand. QBs especially get criticized ad nauseam, but when it happened to Stet, it was unacceptable. I’m not talking about the “Scoutie” or personal insults, I’m talking about valid criticism of his play. Let’s be honest, he had some really bad moments in 2020 and 2021. Did he develop into one of the best QBs we’ve ever had? Absolutely. But it’s becoming apparent the man needs thicker skin if he wants to successfully continue his football career.
