Pretty sure I saw where Talyn Taylor switched from 11 to 1 too.

Best news out of spring thus far…

want to throw where he could make a mistake.

That’s what it looked like to me in several games later in the season. He seemed like he was overthinking things, for whatever reason (could be him, coaching, or some combination of both) and that was making him both hesitant in his release and decision making. He looked like he was playing to not frick up, not playing to make plays.

I think that Gunner needs to get more comfortable changing his arm angle and release point. He started doing it some late in the season after spending most of the season looking like a 1990s Florida Gators quarterback and throwing on platform and over the top.

Maybe bring in Stafford for a few days to work with him. Stafford is one of the OGs and the best there ever was at changing his arm angle on throws.

Teams will definitely copy what Ole Miss did. It's up to Gunner and Bobo and Streeter to figure it out.

They asked all the Pro Day guys about players to watch next season, and Freeling said Jah Jackson and "this is the year he puts it together." AJC posted that Jackson was first string right tackle at practice yesterday. I'm not giving up on Jah Jackson. Way too much god given ability.

In my opinion finding a third SEC-quality starter at offensive tackle and cornerback is the most important position goal this spring.

Interesting

I guess that would mean Gaston is at LT?

I liked the vibe of Gaston and Glover on the right side

They mention who was at LG?

If Jah actually earns it then great. I worry our coaches may fall in love with his “potential” though. If he does, I want Gaston at the other tackle and Greene kicked in to guard. I’m sure they’ll leave Greene at tackle though and Gaston at guard.

From left to right it was Earnest Greene, somebody else, Tolliver, Gaston and Jackson.

Either they are cross-training Gaston some more this spring and there's nothing to see here, or the coaches don't like where we are at the guard position.

This is a real concern with the way the coaching staff treats seniority.

I was hoping that E Ogboko would just come in and win the job outright so Glover and Gaston can stay put at OG positions. Jackson would be interesting IF he has developed way more than what we have seen.

The coaches have Gunner Stockton working on layering throws 10–15 yards over the middle of the field. That’s a big piece of the explosive puzzle that the offense was missing last year.

I'm pretty sure they knew this going into last season too. If I could see it, they knew.

One bold prediction this season
quote:

If Gunner can hit 15-20 yard passes across the middle and keep the linebackers honest, our offense will have a very good year. If he can't do that and we have to "run to set up the pass", our offense will not have a very good year.

I was wrong about the second part, because our offense did have a pretty good year, but it could've been a lot better. Still can, but they have to get that part of the passing game going, or try something different.

Per an article I read, Its looking like Greene and Jackson at the tackles, Glover and Gaston at the OGs and Tolliver at C, at least till Bobo returns.

Sounds pretty solid. If Gaston and Glover looked so impressive last season as true frosh, I'm excited to see what they'll do after a complete season in the S&C program.

Film Guy's first spring breakdown is out on Youtube.

Winners on offense – Elyiss Williams (thinks he'll get the most snaps at tight end), Cortez Smith (thinks he'll pass Tolliver at center), Sacovie White-Helton (built like a running back and runs like a slot receiver), Zykie Helton (not necessarily this season but Brooks is on the Zykie Helton hype train like Coach Donnan). Thinks that Daniel Calhoun will be the left guard.

Also thinks that Glover and Gaston are set at right guard and left tackle, and Jah Jackson is just getting a lot of reps.

Defensive winners – Griffin and McCleod are both locked in at D tackle. Thinks that Amaris Williams from Auburn will play a lot of snaps next season at OLB and DE. Khalil Barnes is looking good at the safety opposite Bolden and has already caught up to the other Branch brother. The ECU transfer safety is missing the spring with an injury, but Film Guy previously liked the ECU guy's film better than Barnes'.

Thanks for the recap. I subscribe to Brooks on YT but it hasn't popped up on my feed. I will seek it out.

Lawson Luckie is coming back right? How would Williams take most of his snaps?

We play two or three TEs on almost every play. Luckie will be the uncontested starter.

Why are you being pleasant and nice to me today? It's making me a little anxious. Are you plotting something?
