Seems to have turned out that JT was still having knee problems in camp

That limited his ability to step into a long ball and it's just now getting back to normal though I would guess we will see an even better long ball next season.

It limited his mobility but also messed with his mechanics and ability to transfer power from the lower body to his arm.

Pretty satisfied with that answer as it is paraphrased from his father's observations in August camp.

Agreed nice to finally see someone answer the questions to why he’s been sidelined! He did good and there’s a lot of upswing for him I hope the line can get meaner and tougher next year !

He wasn't even cleared to play until three weeks ago by team docs, so is this really breaking news that he was struggling with his knee in August?

He has had that issue since high school.

Amazing arm talent though to do what he does despite the lower half mechanics.

Gotta agree with Rig here, it's Auburn game and on that's the big question mark.

I saw where his father said he swa a practice (they allowed the parents in for one practice) and said he could tell immediately that JT was not stepping into his throws like he should.

I'm not sure the distance is going to improve a whole lot, though. he threw 2-3 or more 45-50 yards from the LOS Saturday night. That's pretty stout. But his main strength, imo, is his accuracy.

Agreed. Just worth mentioning with so many people questioning it. For some reason, fans seem to struggle with the notion that the coaching staff see them on a daily basis. They see if the player is favoring a knee, arm or something. They see the players working with the training staff and talk to the doctors and trainers to see what players are struggling.

(That last part was not aimed at you as I have not seen you do that....it was aimed at the many that complained he had not started before this week)

I could also tell he seems to be still favoring his knee a bit...that could be just a reaction of getting his confidence back in his knee or trying to protect it a bit.

If he can stay healthy and we recruit at the current rate and keep folks around next year could be special....of course this is always the case when you are a UGA fan LOL.

still limping and put up over 400 yards and 4 td's...he is clearly our #1 when healthy.

Were the balls batted down at the line a result of his throwing motion? Big wind up when he throws

Kirby has issues, sure, but I don't think you can pin blame on him / the coaching staff for not playing JT sooner. He clearly hasn't been comfortable on that knee - his dad chimed in and basically praised Kirby for not putting his son in danger by playing him too soon.

True. I would expect players who are satisfied with their draft position to declare, and some players who are good but not quite draft worthy to possibly stay and play.

Our biggest need will be a Jordan Davis, plug the middle of the Dline type of guy. I'm not sure we have anybody that can fit the bill right now. I think most players are replaceable, but we could lose a lot of players/depth in the secondary....particularly at CB.

I'd just as soon not see him jumping until that knee is 100%.

I can't remember who it was, but there was a player that got hurt doing that....then it seems like Malcolm Mitchell got hurt one year doing that, too.

I was worried about this exact thing when I saw him jump. Such a weird Injury. I had a weird one with my back myself.

We dont have a guy like Davis.
Maybe we can get a guy closer to john atkins next year. But we absolutely will have to scheme the defense different than we could with davis on the field.
