No way I’m bringing Publix ears to the Rib Off. Just like I’d never use an oven to finish ribs.

Nice submission Rig.

Love the Doobies!

Early Doobies > McDonald Doobies

But all doobies are good.

Merica!

Can confirm. Google maps has an image from last month that shows mature corn in field and shucked corn in a trailer...wow

Squatch can you elaborate on your theory as to why the smoke ring wasn't as prevalent?

This is the first time I didn’t rub the ribs overnight because the ribs sweat and get the rub wet. I salted the night before and rubbed right before putting on the cooker. Used just as much smoke as always.

Made me wonder if part of the “smoke” ring wasn’t the rub which is heavy in paprica getting absorbed or getting drawn in by the salt overnight and causing the pink circle.

Next time I do ribs I’ll split them and see if the theory proves true.

From the RAWL farm facebook page-

quote:

Our produce stand will open tomorrow! We'll have our local strawberries and fresh from our Florida farm we'll have sweet corn, squash, zucchini, pepper, green ...

Ain't local, ain't from a garden, it's from the same place every grocery store gets it. Factory farms in subtropical climates. Not Calhoun, not Columbia or Lexington.

Please photo and post this. I checked their Facebook and the only reference to Florida and corn was from March.

TIA

However this is the stand I was referring to

Here Rig I’ll help….stand has been open since March.

Based on how the wording is similar but conveniently the dates have been changed I think this was a deliberate effort to sabotage my submission.

Shameful for a a RibOff contestant.

So did you get it off their Facebook or not? Or was that a lie?

This will be my last response to this shameful attempt to smear another contestant rather than stand on your own work. The RibOff deserves better.

But thank you for the opportunity to post the shed I got my corn from. I forgot to take a picture

BTW - I drove past a Publix and Lowes food to get it from Francisco.

I don't care where your corn came from. If I wanted to talk shite about your corn it would be that you smoked it. I'm sure smoked corn is great. But the great thing about corn as a side in bbq is that it's a reprieve from the rich and smoky meat, you can bite into something with a different texture and flavor, something bright, contrast. But when it all tastes like creosote Jersey tear down houses and causes colon cancer, I'm not down with that. But that's not what I'm saying, I'm just saying that's what I would say if I did want to talk shite about your corn.

Melt

Edit…I can’t let this one go.

You’re actually shite talking the use of Kingsford Blue Label charcoal when smoking meat? Really?

It’s only been the standard for every smoking competition since they were invented.

I wish LSUHobnailboot would repost his submission here, it wasn't bad. Looking at the current field right now, he could win the damn thing.

Well you bullied him into thinking he had to cook again. He is already prepping for next year.

I feel we should have a list of entries somewhere for voters to see.
