No shite.... how many times to you think an online who had a 1st, 5th, and free agent projected group of Seniors would devolve into what we are seeing?

Who exactly had a 1st round projection? Oh, and 5th rounders and a UDFA that most likely won't make a roster aren't really that impressive in the SEC.

I think you're lying about us having a projected first round pick that's a senior on the OL. Definitely wasn't Kubs, nobody knew enough about Catalina to realistically put him that high. That just leaves Pyke, he's versatile and athletic but I've never seen him projected above the 3rd or 4th round at best, usually in the 5th to 6th range. And I mean projected by a real draft site that is non-biased in nature.

This guy thinks we have a first round OL. It's sad to see Peter devolve like this. Like a human turning into a monkey.

For the third time in the past four years, Georgia had a player selected in the first round of the NFL draft. The Bulldogs could make it three straight years in the 2017 NFL draft. I see four Georgia players with a chance of hearing Roger Goodell call their names on opening night of the draft next spring: offensive lineman Greg Pyke, running back Nick Chubb and outside linebackers Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy.

I said it was odd that we had three guys who were considered NFL camp material including one who some feel had 1st round talent devolve into what we see on the field. They just must be really unlucky.

You copied and pasted that from an article written by a UGA beat writer on some site I've never heard of. I assume you didn't link it because you know its a piece of shite article with no substance or reliability but you're willing to do anything you can to convince people that we have a top notch OL. Try again.

If by "some people" you mean a nobody reporter who covers UGA for a living then sure. I checked and couldn't find an actual scout, expert, or draft board that says anything close to that though.

People have said for a while that Pyke had high end NFL potential. With the alleged Oline guru who came in, I'm shocked to have seen him devolve on the field, even though he is still on the NFL draft board.

Here is another article that was posted here a while back... I'm sure this guy was just making shite up tho....

OL Greg Pyke

The Maryland native is looking to bounce back from a tough 2015 season -- one where he was considered as a potential early entry into the 2015 Draft. At 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, Pyke has the frame NFL executives drool over when it comes to interior offensive linemen and he could get a chance to show off some versatility in 2016 at right tackle. He was able to take a strong hold on that position during spring camp and should he succeed there as a senior, it’ll do nothing but help his stock. Some mock drafts think Pyke can be a late first-round pick but the safe bet is somewhere in the top three rounds if, and only if, he can achieve that bounce-back season.

How much of that is him having to play out of position? That probably doesn't help him much. I like Pyke, like I said he's athletic and reliable, I think he's the only one of the OL who will stick around in the NFL for a while. Kublanow-Nope, Catalina-Nope, Lamont-Nope, Wynn- He's solid for us but last time I checked NFL GMs aren't rushing out to get 6'1 sub-300 pound interior linemen.

Doesn't look like he's having that bounce back season, does it? If he left after his redshirt Sophomore year he probably would've been a higher draft pick that he would've been if he left last year or this year, far out. Once again, he was never realistically thought to be a first round pick. Even if he was, that doesn't mean that our OL is somehow great.

I'm not selling the narrative that our Oline should be really good. I'm saying they shouldn't be this bad. You have Pittman coming in and you build a line around some seniors who have at least fringe NFL talent and some younger players moving in and up.

Most of us would take this on paper any day of the week.

Coming from the guy who said we had "the worst roster since the mid 90's"
And abosolutly ZERO facts to back up the statement?

Besides UF the highest ranked defense we've played is USCe- 48,Vandy-62,UT-69
Ole Miss-114,Mizzou-116. Non-SEC UNC comes in at 60.

I said perhaps in my original statement and I'll stand by it. Sagrin also has the SECe ranked 9th in conference (division) rankings. The WORST in P5.

Also how would you game plan to make up for our shitshow at Oline? It is so easy right?

A smallish OLine requires bigger splits and zone blocking instead of trying to overpower the DLine. Yes. It is easy, actually. If we don't have the Oline to run a power run game, then you adjust until you have the OLinemen the power run game requires. Same if you have a pocket passer. You don't try to run a spread option offense, until you have a DT QB.

If you have a projected 1st round pick do you play him out of position? Could explain putting Chubb in at FB to block, I guess.

I hate to admit it but the reality is that Eason is probably wishing he went somewhere else

He likely wouldn't be starting at many other schools. He's gaining extremely valuable PT as a true freshman right now that will help him in the future. If he's still struggling like this next season, not progressing as a player, and our WRs are still not helping him out, then you will probably be correct.

Chubb is, without a doubt, wishing he went to the NFL last year.

See: Maurice Clarett. True Sophomores who try to legally challenge the NFL draft rules don't do too well.

I didn't expect lightening in a bottle on Smart's first year

Don't think many people did. For the record, I still think we finish 7-5 which isn't far off my 8-4 prediction.

but Chaney was a bust

A little early, but I'm leaning that way, too.

and our O-line is a complete disaster.

It ain't easy trying to turn chicken shite into chicken salad.

quote:

We have no play-makers on the D-line who pose a realistic threat to the opposition's back-field

Disagree. We're very young along the DL but Thompson has had a great year while Rochester and Marshall have played extremely well for true freshmen. The lack of pass rush has more to do with our OLBs (where we have some very talented help coming in), than our DL.

quote:

our receiving core is sub-par at best.

Have been for a few years now. OL and WR recruiting has been a disaster for a couple of years now. I think Ridley has an outstanding future ahead of him, but he's very raw right now. If we can land Holloman (Nico Collins is still a longshot, in my opinion), he should be an immediate impact type guy. Add him to Riley, Nauta, and Woerner, with a guy like Godwin as a slot receiver, and we're starting to look like a real college receiving corps.

quote:

More HARD reality, we probably lose to Kentucky, most likely Auburn and maybe even Tech.

I still think we beat at least 1 of UK or GT, and we can absolutely beat both. Auburn looks really good right now... at least we get them at home.

quote:

The biggest concern I have is, how much will recruiting suffer?

Hardly any. Recruits are pitched on their future, not current results. Kirby is an ace recruiter and he assembled an excellent recruiting staff. Top prospects right now see a ton of PT available and they see that we're not shying away from playing freshmen and sophomores. So long as Kirby is still our HC and maintains the majority of his staff, we will be perfectly fine in recruiting for the next few years.
