What's with this guy? He was a Top-Recruit from Thomas County Central. I've seen him be a marginal player.

Definitely hasn't played up to the hype that was spread during recruiting. Hoping he has a better year this year. First year he will see major playing time.

Not all guys end up being the stars they were made out to be. He'll be a solid player for us this year.

Most players don't make their mark until their third season.

It's still early for Drew. This year is big for him.

(Fwiw, he's never going to rack up a ton of stats the way we use him... we are just looking for him to affect plays.)

The truth is some players are overrated and Ray Drew is one of those guys. He's a solid 3 star. And each year that passes the numbers become more askew and the Dawgs' class while good become a little more overrated. It's called hype.

No. The truth is that most defensive players rise up in their 3rd year in the program.

Writing off a guy because of how he performed as a true freshman and a sophomore at a new position is the definition of premature.

You've been riding this kid for a while. Your agenda is well known. Spend more time watching and less time playing sour grapes.

shite.

There's a difference between 5 stars and 3 stars ..

5 stars start as true freshman.

Get on my nuts. I have no agenda.. Just the truth.

I think 3 is a tad bit low, a low 4 star is about right. Definitely has the talent to be a disruptive player but not a true force like a true 5 star should be.

Lol.

Ray drew got playing time as a true freshman.

But starting as a freshman has more to do with who is ahead of you than your own ability. see matthews and langley.

Most of the great uga players the past 13 seasons picked up their game as upperclassmen.
You are confusing the exception (clowney/jordan jenkins) with the rule.

I can accept Crispy's assessment.

I'm pulling for Ray Drew. That's the thing... he belongs on a team like Georgia Tech. M'fcker would be thought of as all ACC

Every service has a different definition of 5 star.

According to 247, 5 star is a 1st round draft pick.
Other services see 5 star as a player who can compete for 1st team all conference and possibly more.

Drew doesnt play a position warranting 1st round draft status or beat out 4-3 linemen for conference/national awards. this is a defense where the linebackers rule.

I rewatched the game yesterday.

He was the guy who led the stop on the 4th and goal. Don't think he's worthless.

ETA: maybe it was 3rd and goal

It's something we aren't used to... it's called "Depth". Guys on the bench are awesome.... but you can only have 11 on the field at a time.

Ray will have an average career at georgia and then go on to be a monster in the nfl.
