OP specifically asked for "family friendly" because he is with child, which eliminates all these suggestions of just going to waffle house and then bar hopping toward campus.
I meant it was my thought on the best way to do it, not necessarily the best way for HIM to do it; hence why I didn’t suggest that.

Just curious, we're on campus for our first game ever. Is walking around with beers OK? Or am I gonna get beat down by the popo?

Big City Bread. Sitting at Ted's now, left at halftime. Kid had enough.
To the guy asking about open containers, nobody will bother you if it's in a cup or tumbler etc.

I see. I peeped the menu and it didn’t jump out at me. What are your thoughts on Ted’s? Never done that one, either, but seems to be a crowd fav.

Ted's has fallen off a cliff in the last few years, I would no longer call it good. However, it is the only kid-friendly place downtown with a giant sandbox so they still stay busy. I ran into Kirby there with his family one time. I held the door open for him while he carried an arm full of drinks for his wife and kids (counter service) and he had just been hired so he wasn't so famous that he couldn't go out. It took about an hour for people to recognize him.
