This is the most interesting puzzle of the offseason. I penciled in Speed because he's been around and has some good physical attributes but got to think Nyland Green eventually wins that job. On the other side, hard to count on a guy who hasn't played (Ringo) but everything I've heard suggests he's the real deal.

Where am I right and wrong? And how will this group live up to 2020?

Corner
Kelee Ringo
Jalen Kimber
Kamari Lassiter

Corner
Ameer Speed
Nyland Green
Javon Bullard

Star
Tyrique Stevenson
Latavious Brini
David Daniel

Safety
Lewis Cine
Chris Smith
Major Burns

Don’t be surprised if we get a transfer or 2.

Tyrique will open the season as starter but Brini will take over by game 6.

Stevenson was a 4 star guy and top 5 cornerback nationally when recruited. I think we'll see him continue to develop into a key player this coming year.

Brini was kind of a forgotten depth player until he showed out in the Peach Bowl. A pleasant surprise but hard to envision Brini beating out Stevenson...unless Stevenson moves permanently to one of the other secondary positions.

Also agree that a transfer or two may be brought in to bolster the youth at corner. I still like former 4-star Colin Samuel (6-3, 205) who is in the transfer portal from Houston. But who knows what rabbit Kirby will pull out of a hat.

Here’s my crack at it:

CB - Kelee Ringo
Ameer Speed
Nyland Green ee

CB - Tyrique Stevenson
Jalen Kimber
Javon Bullard ee

STAR - Latavius Brini
David Daniel ee
William Poole

S - Christopher Smith
David Daniel

S - Lewis Cine
Major Burns

This is what I think could be likely at first. As the season goes on I expect at least 1 of the freshman to move into bigger role. I also agree that a transfer portal guy is probably likely.

CB - I think Ringo and Stevenson are cemented as starters at CB until proven otherwise. Ameer Speed has all the physical tools but really hasn’t put much together so far. I expect his veteran presence will get him a more significant role with all these young guys. Kimber should not be overlooked. He was also a top 10 CB in the class with Ringo. I think Green will be great at some point and I chose Bullard over Lassiter because he is an early enrollee.

STAR - This one is hard to predict. Brini came on strong the last 2 games and is physically gifted. I want it to be him and I do think he will play a lot. I think David Daniel takes this spot at some point. William Poole has also played STAR before and seems to have the trust of coaches, at least in press conferences.

S - Cine is guaranteed starter. Smith should be first to fill LeCounte’s spot. The safeties don’t rotate nearly as much as CB so I didn’t predict a 3-deep. Burns played well this year and we all have high hopes for David Daniel, whether at STAR or S.

Whoever is back there... Most are NFL studs and will be very good by seasons end. See Ohio State 2020.

I don't see Stevenson starting at corner, he's too big and he gets exposed pretty often, I like him at star with his size.

I don’t hate this.. I would like to see what Stevenson can do at CB with a full offseason getting ready for the position. At CB he can use his size and physicality with the help of the sideline while at Star his guy had a two way go at all times.

Not much sample size but Brini looked very comfortable at Star so I feel good with him starting there.

I think they'll give Stevenson a long look at corner this spring. Green coming in as an Early Enrollee is a good thing. Kimber looks to be pretty good too. A couple of tune up games would have been nice but I guess they'll all be thrown into the fire from the start in 2021.

Yeah, Stevenson just turned this from a renovation to a rebuild. He was definitely starting someplace, whether Star or Corner.

Last I looked, seemed like the corners in the portal were mostly depth guys. Then again, if anyone could spot a gem at DB, it would be Kirby.

If not, it's going to be a lot of young and hungry dawgs. I like Ringo, Green, Kimber, and Speed but still a lot of youth there other than Speed.

Edit: At least we're in good shape at the safety spots. Find one difference maker CB in the portal, and all good.
