I'm really feeling that UGA will make a move with Strickland after the season. I don't see why not. Who could we get that can reenergize the program, recruit and put the program back on the map?

I would take a young, unproven, analytical guy that is high energy and will commit to recruiting the state.

Not sure who that is. Someone young on LSU or Tenn staff?

Ok Stricklin. Now who do you think could be a good replacement? I'm thinking Coastal Carolina's coach should be taken a look at.

Think there are a LOT of coaches out there that could come in and change the culture and make an impact.

It’s different in college baseball vs other sports like football and basketball.

My want, would be Dan McDonnell to change the program around and setup the future for another coach in a few years to take over.

Depends on the money we are willing to spend on a coach and recruiting, after facilities of course.

And if we are going after someone in the Carolina’s chalk me up for Cliff Godwin at East Carolina. Good coach, controls his team and knows the region well

UGA baseball if more of a head-scratcher than UGA hoops. Travel Baseball was practically invented at East Cobb. We could never leave the state and field a nationally ranked baseball team. I wish we would get "football serious" with our baseball program. There really are no excuses.

Yes, East Carolina's coach would be the one to look at too. Both of those clubs have sustained some success.

I totally agree. It's baffling that we're not in top 5 consistently with the talent we have in this state.

Completely agree. There is no excuse for not being one of the best teams in the SEC year in and year out with our instate talent.

Those are interesting. I haven't thought about the vandy and Florida coach. They always have pretty good clubs.

Let's bump this conversation. I feel we need to make the right hire this time. The program's been down too long.

Pretty rich coming from the guy who still calls Stetson Bennett "scoutie."

How bout the Vandy coach? He looks to have major inroads in the state of Georgia already and keeps Vandy in contention constantly.

That would be amazing if possible.

I read elsewhere the top candidates are Mississippi St. HC and East Carolina HC.

I think it’s entirely possible that Vandy and ECU, maybe even Miss. State are better jobs in college baseball than is UGA. We seem to have some cognitive dissonance with all of our job openings being, in our eyes, a definite upgrade from wherever the coach we want happens to be currently.

Our football program is king of the hill…but that has always been the best job at UGA and we don’t need a guy there.

We may need to temper our expectations of what we “deserve” for a coach in almost every other sport.
