Well, it shouldn't be roaming free whatever kind of dog it is. However, while properly bred pits are never human aggressive, they are dog aggressive so you should be worried about the Schnauzer. If they don't seem to even be taking care of the dog, etc. and don't have any reaction when you speak to them, try to call a pit rescue organization before you call the pound, but you cannot allow it to just roam freely.

I didn't figure the fence was an option or you would likely have already considered that route.

What part of Gainesville you live? I just moved to Gainesville from Cleveland had to get closer to work Gas was killing me.

I just moved off of Popular Springs Rd I call it Oakwood but address calls it Gainesville. I would do the nails in a 2x4 trick if it happens again. Plus kill the pit!

Check with the local police and ask what your rights are for a dangerous dog that comes in your yard. Then you will know if it is legal for you to shoot it if you feel threatened.
